Q: Subaru STi?
i don’t know much about all the details about cars, but i was wondering is the subaru WRX STI a really fast car? People have told me its a very strong fast car but i didn’t know. For example whats faster between that or a bmw m5 which is also really fast, or a Mitsubishi Evolution. I just wanted to get info because im thinking of getting the STI but i deciding between that or a BMW so idk.

A: A stock STi typically does a low 13 second quarter mile.

How deep are your pockets? Any BMW with enough engine to produce that kind of performance will cost twice as much as the STi.

Q: How much will a subaru sti 2008 cost when its 2011.?
Hey, I was wondering around how much money will a subaru wrx sti 2008 cost next year. Any one have a decent idea where they will stand? Thanks

A: your best bet is to go to kbb.com and look on there scoobies tent to hold there value pretty well so it will be pretty close to this years cost.

Q: What is the max horsepower you can get out of a Subaru sti?
With upgrades what is the most horsepower you have heard of a sti having? And if you know what did they do to the car?

I’m also interested in any cool subaru websites

A: Im not sure of what the highest horsepower is but i would join this forum and im sure they can tell you. I will tell you there capable of way more than 400hp and there is a lot more aftermarket products other than intakes and exhaust.

Sti motors are fairly stout and can handle alot. Going for aftermarket turbos is the way to go. I know a 20g ball bearing turbo is capable of well over 400hp on those. Scott above doesnt seem to know much about turbo motors, there usually built rather well and if tuned correctly will handle a lot!

Q: What are the best wheels for Subaru STi?
So I’m looking to get wheel for my 2007 subaru sti and there are so many choices just wondering what people think are the best brands. Not necessarily look because brands carry several similar looks. Please let me know what you think. Thanks!

A: www.wheeldude.com
the guy there is really awesome, he’s helped me and some guys I know out a lot.

Those are my favorite wheels on Subaru’s by far. And, since you’re 2007 just like me, click on Subaru > 05+ WRX STi > 17″ > enjoy

Don’t forget, you’re stock fitment is 17×7.5″ 5×114.3.
So, go any bigger than 7.5″ and you’ll need new tires

Depending on the color I’d do…
White > Gold
Blue > Black
Black > Black, Gold, Anthracite

Need any more help? Let me know!

Q: how do you make a subaru sti rear wheel drive?
i have noticed that there is a fuse spot in the fuse box that will let you make the 2007 subaru sti rwd.
does anyone know about this?

A: First am almost positive the fuse makes if FWD and it’s only to be used when you have to use the spare. Only other way to make it RWDs to pull out the front axles or weld the center diff but I don’t think the rear axles one can handle too much hard driving before they snap. There are plenty of cheap RWD cars out there, I would look to one of those.

Q: Would a subaru STI engine fit in a classic beetle?
Would a Subaru STI engine fit in a classic bug?

What would I have to do to make it fit?

A: Yes it will.
Check out OUTBACK MOTORSPORTS. They make/sell all the needed adapters (oil pan and engine mods) to install a suby in an old VW.
Kennedy adapters makes the adapter plate. You can buy it as a kit with clutch and flywheel or just the adapter.
You will want a 002 trans minimum to handle the power. I would recommend a 091 6 rib if you want to do wheelies. transwerks in El Cajon, CA builds a great trans axle that can handle the power starting at $3500 or so.

The hardest part of the swap is deciding where to install the radiator. Super Beetles have a hash section under the front trunk that you could graft into your bug so you can mount the radiator up front and get air flow. Otherwise, I see a lot of bugs with the radiator in the rear with a “baja” style engine cage. I like the radiator up front, but you will also have to plumb it to the rear of the vehicle through the cab.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Q: How Much Boost on a stock 2006 Subaru STi?
I want to know how much boost i can give to my Subaru STi 2006 without upgrading anything…or some good tricks to make it fast…Also how can i get my Turbo to sound louder? Thanx in advance
Im not a ricer…im sorry but i meant like adding more boost…..but if i upgrade my turbo kit,do i have to change anything else?

A: If you want to here the bypass valve get an spt intake with the heatshield. I have one and every time a press the gas you can here the air being sucked in. Sounds great and it does not hurt your warranty because it is made by subaru.

For more power you can add a turbo-back exhaust and some type of engine management. This is considered stage 2. You will notice a difference because your boost will kick in quicker.

Do not get a blowoff valve because it will make the car run to rich and stumble TRUST me!

For more info read the link I provided below. It’s helped me alot.

Q: which would you prefer a Subaru Sti or a lancer evolution?
personally I would like a subaru sti…that is my dream car and they are the best!

A: Subaru STI

Q: Im looking to buy a Subaru Impreza Wrx STI?
I have been looking for a while to buy a Subaru STI. Mostly i been looking at 2004s I finally found one in my price range. This dealership by me is selling one for 14,995 i could prob get him to go down to 14 flat. Its in mint condition the only thing is it has 115,766 miles on it. Is that really bad or its not that big of a deal?

A: Two parts to this answer.
1) Service Records. Without complete proof of a car with this many miles on the odometer being serviced strictly in accord with factory recommendations, DON’T BUY IT. You need, at a minimum, a stamped service record showing all oil changes and other required services.

2) Overall Condition. This is a high-powered automobile commonly used for competition. Has it been modified, and if so, were those modifications expertly done? Check the exhaust system’s condition. Does the car have a “cold air” inlet? (Cheap exhausts are common and will cause problems; “cold air” inlets indicate less than a real understanding of legitimate tuning.) If anything internal to the engine is claimed, you need records — receipts, dynomometer records with the proper VIN on them, etc. A car that has been raced extensively will have more wear on it than one that’s been used by a little old lady only to go to church on Sunday.

Check, if the records exist, for replacement of the following: clutch, battery, tires, serpentine belt, radiator hoses, fuel pump, water pump, brakes, etc. You need to know if you’re going to have to put several hundreds or even thousands of dollars into replacement wear parts after buying the car.

Check the Car Fax! Don’t buy if the car has been totaled, issued a “salvage” title, etc. And, when you’re right down to negotiating price, pay the couple of hundred dollars for a Pre Purchase Inspection by a certified Subaru mechanic (not your uncle who “knows” cars).

This car has been used — a lot and possibly quite hard. Know that there are parts, such as the catalytic converter, that could fail tomorrow and that will cost you over $1,000 to replace. Don’t take anyone’s promises. Promises are worthless when it comes to used cars.

3) (OOppps) This car will be pretty expensive to insure. Know what you’re getting into.

Q: what can i aftermarket parts can i add on my 2006 subaru sti to make it faster and accelerate quicker?
i love my new 2006 subaru sti and it is really fast but i wanna make it faster i dont know to much about cars to know what to add but i want to spend 5000 dollars or less

A: turbo back exhust, intake, piping, piping and more piping

Q: What can I do to mod a 2009 Subaru Sti on a budget?
What can I do to add some power to a 2009 subaru sti on a budget of about $7,000-$8,000.

A: Larger turbo and tune

BOV and headers and full exhaust

Also, its not always about power, try to lighten the car.

Q: How many miles is a Subaru STi good for?
I am currently in the market for an STI. I found one with 58k miles for a good price. Is this a lot of miles for an STI? At what point do they start to wear out?

A: Sounds like reasonable mileage but try to get it checked out by a good mechanic first. Most of the STI’ s get driven quite hard and need premium lubricants and stringent maintenance to survive happily. Past driving style and maintenance dictates how long this car will last. Also check the tires, the hot rod Subaru’s are very sensitive to having exactly the same diameter so one shot tire usually means a whole new set. Fun car, I almost bought one last year.

Q: How much hp and tq will i be putting out on a 2007 Subaru Sti with an Exhaust n Intake with Dynotuning?
Im getting a 2007 Sti with exhaust and intake, and just wondering how much hp and tq itsputting out right there. And if i Dynotune that, how much will be my end result?

A: It sort of depends on how much of the exhaust you are talking about. I might confuse you a little here so try to keep up. An intake and cat back will add about 10hp. Add a tune to that and you’ll see about 25 – 30hp. If you add a down pipe to the mix and get it tuned, you will see as much as 50 to 60hp over stock. Here is the kicker. Just adding the down pipe and tuning with the stock intake and exhaust will still give you about 50hp in gains. That shows you how good the factory cold air intake is for the stock turbo, and the stock exhaust flows pretty good too. The first thing I suggest you do is decide how far you want to go with the car and how much you want to spend. Then find a reputable tuner in your area or someone that will talk to you over the phone and help you reach your goals. You can save your self some money and headache if you take your time and do it right the first time.

Q: Is it possible to put a supercharger in a subaru STI?
im looking to get a sti and i searched everywhere and couldnt find another sti with a supercharger. Is it possible?

A: People have “twin-charged” Subarus before, but it is a radical step to take. It is usually useful in setups with a large turbocharger and a smaller supercharger that allows the vehicle to keep power and torque at low RPM. Again, this is a VERY uncommon setup, but is very unique and expensive, with massive amounts of fabrication.

Q: When are you supposed to use the Intercooler Water Spray on a Subaru STI?
I have a 2007 STi and i wanna make good use of the intercoolor water spray. When am i supposed to use it so it helps my car during and in the longrun? Everything i need to know about this feature.

A: You would use it before hard driving, like a launch or autoxing or something, and you would use it on really hot days, when the air being sucked into you’re intercooler is warmer. But you don’t have to spray it regularly, it wont hurt your car if you don’t. Also, some people put a few ice cubes in their intercooler tanks when planning on going somewhere to drive hard for the day.
