Q: How do the Mazda 5 seats work?
We are considering purchasing a MAzda 5. But from their website, we can;t tell how the seats work and we don;t want to deal with salespeople yet. Can you tell me if the 3rd row seats are removeable? Do the middle row seats flip up to give a large flat area so as to carry 2 bicycles w/o front wheels?
A: I’m not sure if the third row will come out, but both second and third rows will fold flat.
Q: Has anyone had problems with their Mazda 5 breaks?
I bought my Mazda 5 two years ago and 1 year after I bought my car my rotars needed to be resurfaced. Now 1 year after that my rotars need to be replaced. Has anyone ever had this problem? My break pad are perfectly fine but I keep having problems with my rotars.
No, I do not suddenly break or break hard and No, I do not ride my breaks.
A: It may not be the brakes as much as a bad torque to the wheels.
While I have not heard of a problem with the Mazda 5, I know of other cars that develop rotor problems because of unequal torque to the lugs, and/or wrong torque.
I am not trying to discount the other answers, it is just that I have seen it happen.
Another thing is thermal shock can do damage to rotors, and all it takes is a warm rotor and a puddle of water on the road.
Q: Is there a service and repair manual available for the Mazda 5?
Sorry. It’s a 2007.
A: Depends what year. You find that the older model cars have repair manuals readily available. If it’s a newer one you can get a CD format of Ebay.
Q: How do I turn on the headlight on reminder for a mazda protege 5?
I have recently have had to have 3 jumps because I left my headlights on. It beeps when the Passenger door opens, but not the driver-side. I wanted to try to reset it or turn it back on, but I do not have a clue how to do it? Anyone know how to turn it back on
no the dome light/ key reminder does not work with the key in it, but it works on the passenger side door. Ill check the door for a switch tommorrow when it is light out
A: Does dome light/ key reminder(door dinger with key in) work with driver’s door? If they don’t maybe something as simple as door switch(on door jamb) or corroded ground where it attaches to body(pull out screw clean switch where it contacts body with sandpaper). Otherwise it’s a electrical wiring or module problem. If it works with Passenger should work with Driver’s door!
Q: How do I know if my Mazda Protege 5 has a block heater? Where is it located?
I’ve opened the hood and can’t find anything resembling a block heater but apparently, my car has one. I’ve never used it before. Any help or pics would be greatly appreciated~! THANKS
A: It’s not something that’s easy to see. When installed, it’s in the block with only an electrical cord protruding from the heater. Best to look for the plug and cord somewhere around the radiator area. That’s where the plug is usually left dangling so you can plug an extension cord in to it. Or, just behind the grill, for easy access. It looks like a regular household appliance type cord and plug. I bought a used car and thought it didn’t have a block heater cause there was no cord anywhere. But it had been professionally installed by a conscientious mechanic. I found the cord cleverly concealed when I had to replace the battery.
Q: On a 2003 Mazda Protege 5, at how many RPM should the transmission shift?
I just bought one used and it seems the RPM kick much higher before it shifts (automatic tran) than my previous car (88 Ford Bronco 2). The bronco shifted at about 2500 RPM pretty consistently.
A: oh yea, sweetie. my mazda shifts high rpms. its just a mazda thing i believe. lol. (:
Q: How do you change the spark plugs on a 2002 Mazda Progege 5?
I have the car and the parts but i don’t know how to change them. It’s a used car with almost 82k miles on it. It’s had only one major problem, the water pump breaking, but other than that its been running fine. Can someone help me???
A: it should be the wires leading from the starter to the top of the engine and at the end of the wire is the spark plugs. You should either have 4 or 6 and you just pull the wires out and the spark plugs should be there. But you might need a spark plug socket to reach them and pull them out. Go to http://www.clubprotege.com/forum/index.php?s=52a8e1bb1b10e2b571e4197d1d44c66f and just search for spark plugs and you should find a thread about it.
Q: How many gallon’s does a 2009 Mazda 5 fuel tank hold?
A: The 2009 and 2010 Mazda5 fuel tank is 15.9 gallons.
Q: Shrill noise when changing gear in Mazda 5?
When changing gear, I notice a shrill noise when I accelerate after changing gear. The noise is like a skidding noise. Any ideas what it could be?
A: Probably the clutch slipping. Unless you use strange footwork or procedure while changing gears and since it’s self adjusting, I’d get ready for a clutch job pretty soon.
Q: What is the difference between a Mazda Miata 5 SPD and a 6 SPD?
In laymans terms (I’m a girl)…What is the difference? I can’t seem to find that answer online.
A: Simple, 5 speed usually means it has a manual transmission, or stick shift if you will. It basically means the car has 5 gears that you shift through, 5th gear being your cruising gear. 6 speed is the same thing, just with 6 gears instead of 5. Personally, I’d go with the 6 speed. But if you don’t know how to drive a stick, you can either learn, or you might want to consider going with an automatic transmission car. I can let you know more if you like, but I think I answered your question to the extent you wanted me to
Q: What’s the difference between Mazda 3,5, and 6.?
So what is the differences between the cars? Which is better and what kind of gases do you use? The cheap one, premium, or diesel.
A: Mazda doesnt sell diesel car in US. All Mazda car use regular fuel
Mazda 3, 5 and 6 are different cars.
Mazda 3 is a compact sedan, which also comes in hatchback. Just like Honda Civic ad Toyota Corolla.
Mazda 5 is a compact minivan.
Mazda 6 is family sedan. Just like Toyot Camry and Honda Accord

A: You should contact your CAR DEALER to make sure. They should be willing to get you the answer since they sold the car to you. That’s what I would do.
Q: What is the value of a 1983 Mazda GLC (5 speed)? It was running, but was just hit when parked.?

Cannot find anything on line.
Thanks.

Q: I have a 2002 Mazda Protege 5. I need new tires, wanting to know what kind I should be looking at?
Basically bought the car used 6 months ago, I knew when I bought it, that I would need to get some tires. I have heard because of the way the car handles, I should be looking at a high performance tire, but since this is my first car. I just need some decent advice.
A: The Protege 5 is a sporty car. Great handling and a bit of Zoom Zoom. That being said, it doesn’t have THAT much power and so shouldn’t require high performance tires. I went with performance tires that were more than your normal everyday all-weather passenger car tire, 205/45/16 Toyo Proxes4. Unless you will be participating in autocross or trying to recreate scenes from The Fast and The Furious you don’t need to spend the extra money for high performance tires.
Q: How much will it cost to Replace a Oxygen sensor in a mazda protege 5?
A: Which one, front or rear oxygen sensor? Depending upon the year, model and engine that’s in your Mazda, look for yourself on the following websites: partstrain.com, autopartswarehouse.com, autopartsgiant.com and rockauto.com.
Make darn sure you pick the right one as there are two oxygen sensors. One between the exhaust manifold in-front of the catalytic converter and another right behind the converter. When you shop also make certain you select a sensor with a direct plug in type with the electrical fitting already installed.
You can make the install yourself if you buy a special hardened slotted oxygen sensor socket from any auto parts store.
