Q: Where to find a clear rear window for a 94 Jeep Wrangler soft top?
I have been looking everywhere and cannot find just a clear rear window yj for a 94 Jeep Wrangler soft top. Everywhere I look shows that you have to buy all 3 rear windows and they are all tinted. Does anyone know where I might find a window online or locally near Buffalo, NY?
A: If it’s the OEM top it is made by http://www.bestop.com/index.php?s=42 , who only sell replacement windows as a set of three. The only real hope you have of getting the rear only is from places like ebay or craigslist, or somewhere like http://www.Jeepforum.com
Any place that sells bestop tops should be able to order a set of clear windows for you.
Q: What kind of air gun do I need to use to paint a Jeep Wrangler?
What psi do I set it at also? Every car is different so I’m sure I wouldn’t paint the Wrangler the same way I’d paint my Jeep Grand Cherokee. Thanks for any GOOD advice.
A: Paint guns don’t need to be diff from one car type to another..
A gravity fed HVLP (high vol, low psi) paint gun is what you need.. If your just doing 1 or 2 paint jobs the $40 harbor freight tools HVLP will work (I have primed a bunch of cars with mine and laid color down on a couple with it)
Pressure to set it at depends on the gun you have..
You need a good compressor (220 volt, 60 gal tank min), a wall mounted filter/water trap/reg.
Then you need a pressure reg on t he tail stock of gun… Most HVLP guns works best with 10 psi at the cap (spray nose of gun)
But thats hard to measure.. What I do is set my wall reg to 90 psi and my gun reg to 40 psi.. That works best for mine.
Q: Where do you rest your foot when off the clutchon Jeep Wrangler?
I have a 88 Jeep Wrangler that has no place to rest your left foot when not on the clutch. Since I am new to learning manual, I was wondering what other Jeepers do? I don’t want to rest it on the clutch and burn it out. Any suggestions for newbie? Thanks.
A: i have a 78 cj5 and tilt my foot to the left and rest it against the parking brake but most people would either pull the foot back to where its flat on the floor(closest to the seat) or against the firewall (the further away from you). just find a spot that you feel good with
Q: What would cause the burning oil smell from my 2008 Jeep Wrangler?
I have a 2008 Jeep Wrangler, with an oil problem. If you drive more than say like an hour, and get out you get this really bad oil smell coming from the engine. Also the oil is turning black after only 1500 miles. I am taking it in to the dealership today, but wanted to get some feed back.
That should be the oil is very black after only 1500 miles and not turning black. Also I have searched the engine for leaks and signs of burnt oil but have found none.
There is no smoke.
A: if your engine is smoking, there has to be a leak somewhere. my first guess would be the head gasket.
Q: What are the dimensions for the 04 Jeep Wrangler OEM catback exhaust system?
I’m looking at buying either a performance cat-back exhaust or muffler for my 04 Jeep Wrangler X. Depending on how much of a difference in pipe size, I may just go with a cheaper performance muffler.
A: Leave it at the stock dia (2.5″). Any bigger and you will loose valuable low end torque.
As far as a cheap performance muffler go with a Summit racing Muffler.
You didn’t say what size engine you have.
Q: How to talk my parents into a Jeep Wrangler?
My dream car has always been a Jeep Wrangler and I was just wondering if any of you had any advice on how to talk my parents into letting me get one.
Their main concern is safety…
Have any of you ever talked the parentals into something that seemed impossible to talk them into?
First, I have my license. Second, I’m not paying for it myself so i don’t need a job right now.
It is going to be for a graduation present.
A: Since safety is a concern, do your research on safety and show you parents its good points in safety. Unfortunately the bad points have always been glorified, where is has been proven that Speed, driver error, and alcohol is the cause of role overs and the safety role over tests have always been over exaggerated by extreme maneuvers. Where a safe driver would 99.9% prevent or avoid the problem. The wrangler has major improvements in preventing role overs and major safety improvements over the Willey’s which was prone to role over’s do to it’s stiff suspension, short wheel base and narrow width. Also try www.allpar.com and search jeep safety should have info on the jeep
Good Luck and enjoy your Jeep
Q: What do you think of the jeep wrangler x?
Hey all,
I am picking up my new 2009 red jeep wrangler x, on saturday and was just looking to see what people think of the wrangler, good choice or bad? I got it for a little under $24,000 2dr, automatic with cruise control.
A: If you service your transmission every 30,000 miles (which nobody does but they are supposed to) it will last longer than you will own it….
Q: How do I improve mpg’s in a 4 cylinder jeep wrangler?
Im thinking about buying a 1997 jeep wrangler se 4 cylinder. I test drove it and I loved it. What can I do to make the engine more fuel efficient. Also what brand of lift kit do you recommend if I wanna throw on a 1.5-2 in lift kit on?
A: The best way to improve gas mileage is to learn good driving techniques, such as slow acceleration from stops, plan ahead so that you don’t have to stop (let off the gas if you see that the light is going to change), drive the speed limit, when on the freeway keep in the slow lane and stay around 55 – 60 mph.
Instead of wasting money on a lift that you don’t need and is a total waste of money ( you won’t be doing any true offroading that will require taller tires and a lift) put this same money into a free flowing exhaust, upgraded intake and air cleaner.
Don’t raise it and put on large tires. With a 4 cylinder engine large tires will rob it of power and cause you to waste more gas because you will have to step on the gas to get it to move.
Q: who much would it cost to fix a transmission on a Jeep wrangler?
i have a 2005 2 door jeep wrangler how much would it cost fix the transmission? and the axle?
A: It will cost 3000 dollars
Q: How can I carry a bike with my jeep wrangler unlimited?
I have a brand new jeep wrangler unlimited and I am looking to carry a mountain bike and a road bike on the back. I do not have a trailor hitch and read in the manual on page 384 that I can not put more than 50lbs on the spare tire carrier including the weight of the tire. I found bike carriers that mount to that part how do they carry bikes and a tire and stay under that weight limit?
A: Spend about $100 on an aftermarket trailer hitch, then add a bike carrier.
Q: How do I relocate my jeep wrangler mirrors? What mirrors am I supposed to get?
I want to take my doors off of my 06 Jeep wrangler, so I bought brackets but what mirrors do I purchase or am I to use the existing mirrors. Im under the understanding that you take the existing mirrors and and put them in the brackets but this isnt working. What do I do?
A: A lot of guys use Harley mirrors
http://www.suburbanharley.com/catalog/productdetails.cfm?ProductID=1500
combined with the longer arms
http://www.suburbanharley.com/catalog/productdetails.cfm?ProductID=1515
I used these
http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Product/tf-Browse/s-10101/Pr-p_Product.CATENTRY_ID:2008316/p-2008316/N-111+10101+121474063+4294965462/c-10101
with a 3/8 inch diameter bolt and a nut. Used the bolt to hold the mirror on using the door hinge that you will free up when you remove the door. Entire setup cost less than $15.
Don’t forget to pull the #4 fuse so your interior lights will stay off! Open the glove box, remove that little strap that holds it in place and use a fuse puller or some needle nose pliers remove it.
Q: What do guys think about a girl in a Jeep Wrangler?
I am 16 and im getting my first Jeep Wrangler what do guys think when they see a girl in a Jeep? this could only apply to the country guys…but do you think its hot?
A: It worked great for Daisy Duke!
Q: What is the best way to repair/replace a ripped seat on a 2001 jeep wrangler sport?
I own a 2001 jeep wrangler sport (stock) and the front drivers side seat has a 2 inch tear located on the side. The seats are black with random triangles and lines. I would like to stay away from seat covers. Can you replace just the factory bottom seat cloth? What is the best and cheapest fix?
A: Possibly the cheapest would probably be an upholstery shop. They’ll use aftermarket cloth to make a new cover. Second would be to order the cloth from Jeep. If memory serves, yes, you can just replace the bottom seat cloth. Go to your local dealers parts department and they’ll be able to find out what you need. You’ll need a set of bull ring pliers and some bull rings. Look on ebay for a package deal. Reupholstering a cloth seat is really not that difficult after you understand how it’s done and get a hang of using the bullring pliers.
Q: Whats the name of the song and artist for the new Jeep Wrangler Commercial?
Its currently playing on NBC and Hulu. It begins with women in a salon getting their hair done and then later driving their Jeep Wrangler Rubicons. The song has the lyrics “she’s so hot, hot hot, she’s so hot”
I’ve come up with the Frozen Flames “She’s so hot” on my own but they have no band website, youtube videos, or iTunes listings. Someone help me!
A: Vick Lavender – Vaporizer
I love that song too lol
Q: How much is it a month for a jeep wrangler rubicon?
I’m looking to get a jeep wrangler (preferably a 2010 rubicon). I make about 450 a month. Can I afford to buy or lease one? How much a month? Do you know anywhere in NH or Mass that have used ones? I’m looking for 2007 and up. Preferably white.
Thanks a lot!
A: You’re asking a question that no one can answer without better understanding a few factors
1. What kind of loan rate do you qualify for
2. How much is the purchase price of the Rubicon (could be anywhere from $28,000 – $35,000 for a 2010. Or a heavily used 2007 could go as low as $18,000)
Google auto loan calculator…nevermind I did it for you: http://www.onlineloancalculator.org/
Find out what kind of interest rates you qualify for and go to town
If you want my opinion….if all you make is $450 a month then no, you cant. You’ll have to pay insurance and these vehicles do not get great gas milage (look for 16-18mpg)…
Look at getting a wrangler X. The Rubi’s a great Wrangler but if you don’t plan on using it for a lot of intense off roading then it’s completely unnecessary, and often geared lower so makes for a rougher day to day vehicle (slower acceleration, lower highway speeds). Other wranglers are completly capable offroad vehicles and meet the moderate offroaders needs wonderfully….or you can find an X/Sport with the upgraded rear Dana 44 axle
