Q: What oil do I put in a 2002 honda accord?
I got a 2002 honda accord 4 cylinder a few months ago and I need to get some oil for it. Is there a certain kind I should use?
A: This is right from the owner’s manual:
Recommended Engine Oil:
API Premium grade 5W-20 detergent oil (see page 250 & 251 of the owner’s manual). https://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/pubs/om/AC0202/AC0202O00250A.pdf
Personally I use full synthetic but it is not required.
Q: Can you remove an original stereo out of honda accord 2005?
Well recently i’ve been wanting to buy an audio system which includes a stereo. I got a honda accord 2005 4door. The stereo looks quite different compared to other cars, i’m wondering if i can take it out and install a new stereo?
A: yeah you can but you cant do itunless you know how to take the stereo out and have the speciall fit case that surrounds the new stereo that you got……you should take it to a shop, even though your original stereo might be bigger than the one you want to put on…they have a special case fit that will cover the space for your new one.
Q: what is needed for a basic tune up on a 1992 honda accord?
My grand-daughter has a 92 accord that is starting to run rough. I have tuned up older cars in past, but the spark plug wires on her Honda appear different than american made cars. Is there a difference?
A: the most critical adjustment to that car in terms of performance, fuel economy and driveability is the valve adjustment. the valves on that car should be checked and adjusted every 15,000 miles. my guess is that if you can’t remember when they were last adjusted that the valve adjustment will go a long way in the idle quality.
the spark plugs sit in tubes that run between the top of the valve cover and the cylinder head where the plugs are threaded in. you need an ratchet extension to get the plugs out.
the cap and wires need to be inspected if they are old; change them if they have any oil on them.
beyond the plugs, air filter, cap, rotor, wires and valve adjustment the “tune up” usually includes other services like brake inspection, transmission fluid change, oil and filter change. those are not responsible for the idle problem but should be done every 30,ooo miles. again, if you don’t know the last time they were done you should probably do them.
lastly, look into the throttle body and see if there is a build up of carbon around the throttle plates. if there is, use a spray carburetor cleaner to dissolve it. carbon will cause the throttle plates to hang up and give you the rough idle.
I think you should start with the valve adjustment and go from there.
hope that helps
Q: How would you go about installing wig wag flashers in a Honda Accord?
I have a 1990 Honda Accord, that I’d like to install a wig wag flasher in. Has anyone done this, and if so, how hard was it?
The car is a POV rig for a volunteer fire department.
A: i’ve done it in a dodge durango once. not that hard a matter of getting a power source and tapping into the light fuse box. make sure you tie it into the high beams and not the low
Q: How much will it cost to fix a Honda Accord P0420 code?
Last night, my Malfunction Indicator Light came on. I had the codes checked, and it is P0420 (catalytic converter). I know NOTHING about cars, so can’t fix it myself. How much do you think this is going to cost me with a trusted mechanic?
It’s a 99 Honda Accord with 116,000 miles on it.
Thanks!
A: that is a terminal code which means the catalytic converter is below 50% of its original capacity and will need to be replaced before the car will pass a smog test. mechanically there is nothing wrong with the converter and your car will drive fine. from a certification standpoint, the catalyst in the coverter is worn out so the converter is less efficient than it wonce was, so the car might be emitting higher levels of noxious gasses. so first of all, don’t worry becaue the car wont die on you.
to replace the coverter with a honda part is about $1000. If it were my car, I’d call muffler shops in the area to see if there is an aftermarket converter available for your make and model. Your car is “OBD-II” and only the Honda converter is certified in some states (such as California) and aftermarket converters are not available locally. that doesn’t mean you can’t get one on the internet and have it installed.
check your local muffler shops first to see what your alternatives are. check the autoparts store websites (NAPA, Autozone etc) to get an idea about the price and availability of a catalytic converter for your car in your area.
hope that helps
Q: What kind of engine swap can I do to a 1988 Honda Accord?
I want my old 88 honda accord to be as fast as possible. The engine that’s in it runs, but it’s not in the best of shape and I don’t drive the car that often. So I’m just going to make it as fast as possible. What kind of base engine would be the best one to start with, and what all will fit? I’m pretty sure that I’m going to go Turbo, but I’m not too familiar on Honda stuff. I got my 03 mach1 mustang thats pretty quick, but I want my honda to be faster, and to be my sleeper car. Can anyone help me with that?
A: an H22

Q: How do I reset the service interval light on a 1983 Honda Accord?
I just took care of the routine maintenance myself and I need to reset the service interval light (not the check engine light) on my 1983 Honda Accord. How do I do this?
A: there is a little square on left of steering wheel on dash near the light push it in with key it will go back to green
Q: What tools are necessary for replacing a master cylinder on a Honda Accord?
1992 Honda Accord LX – Metric wrenches, obviously – but are there any other tools needed for bleeding the brakes or anything else? Please be specific. Thanks!
A: Rust penetrant.
Metric FLARE nut wrenches, not regular wrenches. Reg wrenches will round off the flare nuts if they’re stuck. Metric sockets to remove the master cylinder from the firewall. You’ll also need a bench bleeding kit. You MUST bench bleed the new master cylinder before putting in on the car. It will never bleed properly if you don’t. The bench bleeding kit has fittings that screw into the ports. Tubes go on the ports and you route them back into the reservoir.
Put the MC in a vise (just tight enough to hold it without damaging it). Fill the reservoir with brake fluid. Then, use a wooden dowel rod (not a screwdriver) to push the piston in. You’ll see the air bubbles being blown into the new fluid in the reservoir. Continue pumping the piston until the air bubbles stop. Then you can install it.
Finally, bleed all the calipers and wheel cylinders.
Q: Is anyone in Canada having problems with the Honda Accord 2009 and the squeaky brakes?
I am specifically looking for problems on the Canadian side so that I can decide on what level to approach Honda Canada. I bought a brand new accord in July this year and the brakes have been squeaking ever since? Help!
A: I agree with Cole.
As much as I love Honda, one problem they have is the brakes on the car. I have owned 97 Honda Accord, 97 Honda Odyssey, 98 Honda Passport. 01 Honda Passport. and Currently own an 07 Acura TSX. Sadly they 4/5 had brake problems. And successfully this problem was fixed by quickly going back to the dealer you bought it from. Even my Acura had brake problems at first. So i urge you to go back to the dealer as soon as possible.
Q: What would cause no power to right high beam on 2002 honda accord?
2002 honda accord
Right High Beam not working – All other lights including low beam work. Fuse for for Right side is good.
Replaced bulb and still not working.
Checked power at pigtail (Light socket) power on one side but not other @ pin.
Could this mean the relay needs replace? Original bulb was burnt.
A: I’d check the relay first. If it checks OK, then look harder at the bulb socket. Electrical gremlins are the worst to have. You might try getting a friend to turn the high beams on/off as you oHm it out.
Q: How much would it cost to make a honda accord DX 1991 all bran new again?
I have no interest in buying a new car, I love my car the way it is, And i want to know how much it would cost to make my 1991 honda accord all bran new again?
A: Depends on how much on the car is FUBAR. It’ll cost more to restore the car than it’s value. If the car has a lot of sentimental value, then go for it. Just do a little at a time. Take care of the mechanical moving parts first, then cosmetics. Keep an eye out on ebay, usually you can find some nice OE parts at a good price.
Q: What would it cost to replace the rear tires of a Honda Accord?
I am seriously considering purchasing a 1991 Honda Accord SE. The only problem is that the owner has stated that it needs two new rear tires to pass inspection. Consequently I convinced him to lower the price by over $200. I’m not sure if that’s enough, though, because replacing tires can be hundreds of dollars. I may need him to take another $100 off that.
Can anyone tell me what replacing the tires would cost so I can know how to negotiate the price down further if necessary?
A: in the uk that would cost around £65 to replace so in the states that’s around $170 u should b fine having $200 off
