Q: How do I check the transmission fluid in my 1997 ford ranger.?
I just bought a 1997 ford ranger,with a manuel transmission.Automatic transmisions have a dipstick.
A: There is a fill plug on the side of the transmission, remove plug and stick your finger in it, it it comes out with oil on it, you are good. If dry, add oil. It’s the upper plug.
Q: What are good sites to look for used or aftermarket Ford Ranger body parts?
I rolled my 2000 Ford Ranger XLT Supercab (4-door), and I’m looking for body parts now. I’m on a student budget. I need new passenger doors, a roof, windshield, passenger glass (both front and back doors), back window, and possibly a front passenger fender. And a tailgate somewhere along the line, not important now though. I’m looking for used or quality aftermarket parts.
Thanks!
A: LMC TRUCK they have lots of catalogs for pretty much every year and make of domestic trucks, i’d suggest trying them first, they have a lot of hard to find things as well like decals and emblems and badging that you’d normually have to find at a junk yard
Q: 1993 ford ranger 4×4 how much for repairs?
I have a 1993 ford ranger 4×4 3.0L V6
It needs a power steering pump, a steering gear box, and a serpentine belt… how much do you think is a reasonable amount to pay a mechanic for repairs including labor?
A: $50 for the Steering Pump, $150 for the Gear Box. $20 to $40 for the Belt. $250 to $450 for the labor.
Q: where can I buy parts for a ford ranger 2.8L diesel engine in north america?
2003 ford ranger 4X4
I’ve checked the ford dealer and all the usual places and aftermarket auto stores. I purchased the truck while stationed in Argentina but can’t find anyplace that stocks parts for this small diesel engine.
A: NAPA, Advance, Auto Zone, or probably almost any other auto parts store.
Q: Where can I find a Fuse Box Diagram for a 1998 Ford Ranger XLT?

Q: Who knows which fuse go to the back-light of a ford ranger 1993?
Hii, does anyone have a fuse box diagram of a ford ranger 1993?
I can’t find one anywhere =S
Or does anyone know which fuse goes to the back lights?
A: it is fuse #5 in the fuse panel. it is a 15 amp fuse
Q: Does anyone know where to get suspension lifts for a 2000 ford ranger?
I have a 2000 Ford Ranger 3.0L V6 and I want to look into about a 6 inch suspension lift but I can’t find a company that makes them. All I can find are body lifts, and I want to get a little more ground clearance then that. Thanks.
A: Its actually better for your tuck if you buy suspension lifts over body lifts. I am not sure why but guys i know say suspension lifts. If you do get a lift kit make sure you check your state’s regulations with the rear bumper. I know in Minnesota its 30″ max height for rear bumper.

Q: How do you remove the hydraulic clutch line from the transmission on a 1992 Ford Ranger?
I’m trying to change the clutch in my 1992 Ford Ranger 2 wheel drive 3.0 V6 I have everything disconnected except for the hydraulic clutch line I went a bought the special tool to do this and I still cant get the line to come out. I tryed using the tool to push the white ring in towards the transmission/slave cylinder and it does niot seem to want to move. can anyone explain what I am doing wrong or what I need to do to remove this line it is the only thing keeping me from droping this trans and replacing the clutch. thank you.
I tryed that but the white ring dose not seem to want to move.
The white ring seems to be fully pressed in but the plastic hydraulic line is still stuck in. even after cleaning it compressed air and a penetrating oil.
A: Sounds like you are doing what needs to be done. Maybe there is dirt in the retainer keeping it from moving. Try spraying some penetrating fluid around it. Also try pushing in on the line and twisting while pressing the white collar, then pull outward>
Q: I am wanting to put a cummins 4bt diesel in a ford ranger! What is the best transmission and transfer case!?
I want to make a Cummins 4BT diesel engine fit in and under a 1993 ford ranger, but am not too knowledgeable on transmissions or power train components! Please if someone can guide me in the right direction that would be awesome! Also what would you recommend for gear ratios for daily driving and some off roading?
A: http://www.dieselpowermag.com/features/ford/0808dp_1998_ford_ranger_cummins/index.html
hydraulic 46RH automatic transmission and driveshaft that were scavenged from a 3/4-ton Dodge Ram pickup and a used Ford 8.8-inch rear axle with 3.08 gears
and best of luck to you! love that black smoke!
Q: How hard is it to change a waterpump on a 2001 Ford Ranger?
I have a 2001 Ford Ranger XLT. There is coolant fluid leaking from the water pump area, so I’m guessing it needs to be changed. So, what am I getting into? How hard is it to change this thing?
A: You don’t mention the mileage or engine on your Ranger but I would offer a possible tip to the problem. I have a ‘94 with the 3.0/6 with 123,000k that started leaking very slowly. It took awhile but I finally located the problem as being loose bolts on the water pump. The culprits were the three on the lower left side as viewed from the front of the engine. The leak wasn’t bad but I did find coolant on the left front motor mount as well as a wet spot on the edge of the block near the mount. Usually, if its the water pump itself there will be signs of the leak at the pump shaft from bad seals.
If you go to the www.autozone.com/repairs site, after free sign-up, they have complete instructions to change it… but first check those three bolts. The tip-off was a notation on the installation that only those three bolts needed to be coated with teflon type pipe joint compound. That meant that they were apparently threaded into the water jacket and needed the joint compound to prevent leaks.
Q: How much does it take to fill up a single cab ford ranger? How often?
I’m debating on whether or not I want a truck or car… I’m bit of a country girl and my heart is set on the truck. I just need to know how much it might cost me to have a small single cab Ford Ranger. Thanks.
A: 1998 through present Rangers have a 19.5 gallon tank regardless of what engine it has and it does not matter if it’s a standard cab or super cab.
Q: How do you tell what front brake part is going bad in a 1995 ford Ranger XLT?
My 95 Ford Ranger Xlt 4×2 just started to make a wierd noise when braking and the brakes feel like they are grinding while driving, how do I tell which part is going bad? This is the front end. I have new pads to put on it but am trying to make sure that I get it all done right.
The truck still stops great but that may be because of the rear brakes which are newer.
A: if your truck is grinding while you are stopping, check out the rotors , they should be smooth on both sides if one of them is not (ie: having gouges in the face of one side or the other or both ) you should replace the rotor.
i would check the thickness of rotors as well
remember one thing when replacing the brake pads always get the glazing off of the rotors before installing the new pads this is done so that the new pads seat into the rotors causing better braking
one other thing check for leaks around caliper pistons, broken rubber boots (if you have not done a replacement of calipers i would think of replacing them) also check hoses for cracking.
Q: Where can you find a 2004 Ford Ranger dashboard?
I own a 2004 Ford Ranger regular cab with the 2.3L I4 engine. I did a really bad butchering job installing a switch next to the steering wheel. Is there any place I can go to order/buy a new/used dashboard? I’ve looked on the Ford website but can’t seem to find anything. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, though.
A: Check local dismantlers, prolly have a good chance there. Or ebay
Q: Synchronizer replacement price in a ford ranger?
I’ve got a 92 ford ranger with the 4 cylinder motor and a 5 speed. It has trouble going into 2nd when downshifting. If you want it to go in you have to slow down to 10-15 mph. I’m thinking it might be the synchronizers. What would it cost to have them replaced or is it something that I can do myself?
A: Just learn how to double clucth it, you’ll be fine…here we go….from 3rd gear push clutch in, shift to neutral and let clutch out, rev engine a little, then push clutch in and shift to 2nd, should go right in.
Just like the ‘ol race car drivers did it. Even Steve MacQueen did it in his 68 Mustang in the movie Bullitt. Look on you tube! Just takes a little practice.
Trans repair can be done yourself, but it is for the more seasoned mechanic. Get a shop manual and make sure you have all the special tools or substitutes first. Maybe a junkyard swap out? Easier!
Q: How Much would it cost to replace the back window sliding glass of my 95 ford ranger?
