Are you looking for Nissan Maxima Check out your top automotive resource NitroBahn.com

Q: 1989 nissan maxima the cables are in good condition and there is not any rust whatsoever it still wont start?
1989 nissan maxima the cables are in good condition and there is not any rust whatsoever it still wont start,it only turns over and that is it

A: if your stating that the engine turns over (cranks) but does not start it is either electrical or fuel related.

check for spark at the plugs and also check to make sure your getting fuel to the engine.

easy way to see if it the fuel pump is to buy a can of ether and spray it into the throttle body if your getting spark then the engine will try to start from the ether, which would indicate a bad fuel pump, if it does not then your pretty much looking at something electrical like coils or ecm…

good luck

Q: What questions should I ask at the dealer when looking for a nissan maxima?
I’m looking at cars to buy and i feel like the best sedan I can afford used is the nissan maxima. When buying a used maxima, what questions should i find the answers to so that I avoid getting ripped off. For instance, are there any expensive parts that need to be replaced at a certain mileage? Also any suggestions for other used sedans ranging from 8-12 thousand would be appreciated.

A: stay away from 01-02 maxima’s. 03 is pretty much the best maxima ever made in my opinion. From 04 and up they have had a major secondary timing chain issue that can cost up to $1400 to fix. Make sure that this problem has been fixed beforehand. oxygen sensors are also a thing to worry about but not a super expensive issue.

Q: How to fix clock on a 1995 Nissan maxima?
I have a 1995 Nissan maxima and clock starting going about two years ago, it would work on and off. Now it quit working all together except about once every few months. How do I fix it. Where could I find a replacement clock. Not sure if this matters but the display on the radio quit working most of the time to, and the radio doesn’t work 95% of the time because the cd player is broken and always overrides the radio.

A: You need a good radio first hopefully it has a clock. Best Buy Crutchfield or local Stereo shop. Good Luck

Q: what is the difference between nissan maxima and altima ?
I been doing some research on the nissan Maxima and Altima and they both look the same to me the Maxima just is more expensive can someone please tell me the difference and can someone please suggest one for a 19 yr. old first time driver that when I gradauate from highschool and which one would be better for a college student the altima or maxima thanks for the answers in advance.

A: The Maxima and Altima are built on the same platform and while they look very similar, they are designed to suit different kinds of customers.

The Altima is built more for young families and teens/college students. The Maxima is slightly larger, has better performance, and is built more for adults who want a cross between a sports car and a sedan.

I would recommend the Altima for you.

Q: How do you program the alarm for a 2002 nissan maxima?
I recently broke my alarm transmitter for my 2002 nissan maxima and I just bought one from amazon along with programming instructions but I cannot get past the step that includes entering the key 6 times within 10 seconds. (Hazards lights do not flash) Does anyone know what may be wrong or how to properly program the alarm? Thanks for any help.

A: E-mail me and I will send you instructions. First step is sit in the car lock the doors then insert and withdraw the key 6 times in 10 seconds? jp.hudson@sbcglobal.net

Q: Can a missing EVAP canister purge control solenoid valve affect how well my 98 Nissan Maxima starts?
My 98 Nissan Maxima has been giving me trouble starting. If it’s the first time I use it in the day, the engine takes quite awhile to turn.

I know the EVAP canister purge control solenoid valve of my Nissan needs to be replaced, but my mechanic says that that part should have nothing to do with how well my car starts. Could this be the reason for the poor starting or should I keep looking?

A: Question of the day is why dose the valve need replacing? The last Nissan I needed to replace that valve on , was plugged up with carbon from a bad charcoal canister. It was sucking charcoal into the motor , not a good thing. If the valve is stuck open , at best you will have a vacuum leak , at worst , you will be sucking fumes from the tank all the time. Have your guy check a little closer. By the way, the dealer had new canisters and control valves on the shelf. That should tell you something. If all else is correct it may be part of your start problem

Q: How do I locate a cylinder on my 2001 Nissan Maxima?
Hello All,

I have a 2001 Nissan Maxima SE which has typical iginiton coil problems.

The code reader says cylinder 5 is misfiring.
How do I locate cylinder 5?

I have the service guide but there is no numbering diagram.

Thanks!
Thanks Tee for the response.

Where would I find that in the factory service guide? They show a picture of the ignition coils but do not number it for you.

A: John Paul is dead on.

Q: Where is the neutral safety switch located on a nissan maxima?
I have a 1993 Nissan Maxima that sometimes wont start unless shifted into neutral and slammed into park. I had a friend check it and they said I need to replace the neutral safety switch. I now have the part but dont know where to find it on the car. Please help. I read the chiltons manual and it has a picture but cant tell if it is inside the shifter or on top or motor or underneath.

A: Usually where the shifter is, you would need to remove the rubber boot around it. That is if the shifter is located between the two front seats next to your right leg.

Q: How long do Nissan Maxima usually last?
I have a 1996 Nissan Maxima with about 445k miles.. Im lookin into relocating from Texas to FLorida and not sure If my vehicle will make the drive.. I have changed the oil and put new tires and brakes on the car already, but kinda nervous to take it, not sure if it will make it all the way to the Florida line..

A: You rock!! I thought my father was the man for selling his 1989 with 342,000 on the odometer. You’ve destroyed his number by over 100,000 miles. BTW, the current owner has put another 35,000 miles on it and it still runs fine. Anyway, just have it checked out by a mechanic first. The key to it making it is having everything in top working order before you go. You might be able to squeeze another 100,000 miles out of it.

Q: Why does my Nissan Maxima go to higher RPM when I shift to 4th gear?
My 1998 nissan maxima was doing good. I’ve been shifting at 3000-3500 rpm between shifts. Just today, i shift from 3rd to 4th at about 3k rpm and all of a sudden the rpms hit about 5000 to 6000. What could be the problem? This has been happening and I do not go pass 3rd gear now. What can i do?

A: Unfortunately it sounds as though your clutch is just starting to slip. You
can shift into the higher gears at a lesser rpm and drive it easy to avoid
being stranded. The clutch disc has become too thin and the pressure
plate is no longer able to hold it upon acceleration. It would be advisable
to check the clutch hydraulics also for leaks and proper operation!

Q: How do i hook up a push button start kit on a 1995 nissan maxima?
My key was lost and now i need to hook up a push button start for my 1995 nissan maxima.

A: why dont you just get another key made? or do you want a push button?

Q: How do I install a front license plate on a Nissan Maxima?
We got a Nissan Maxima and are required by law to put a plate on the front bumper (in the front window won’t work). Unfortunately, there are no holes in the bumper on which to mount a plate, and I’d prefer not to drill holes in it. Is there any other way to attach a license plate to the front bumper?

A: If you look carefully at the bumper in the middle, about 1/2 way up, you will see 2 small dimples in the bumper cover. The dimples are the same distance apart that the upper lic plate screw holes are. This is where you need to install the front lic plate. The best thing to use is self tapping screws, its what the dealerships use, to install the lic plate. Usually, if you just go to the dealership, they wonl’t charge you to do this because it takes about 10 seconds.

Q: What is the song in the commercial for the new Nissan Maxima?
The commercial for the new 2009 Nissan Maxima has a really catchy song playing in the background, which sounds kind of old school. Does anyone know what it is? The commercial shows 2 Maximas (white & black) coming together to make 1.

A: i believe it is

join together – the who

actually im pretty sure.

Q: What is the better air intake system for a 2000 nissan maxima?
Is a Weapon R intake better than a Injen intake for my 2000 Nissan Maxima?

A: Actually the stock air filter wil protect the expensive mas air flow meter the best. If you add a aftermarket oiled air filter you coud ruin your air flow meter. Exhaust first then intake with a filter that won’t get oil on the air flow meter and dynometer shop for a tune. Setting the fuel and timing tables will do the most to improve the power but only after you are able to make more flow in and out of the motor.

Q: How often should one have a transmission flush on a Nissan Maxima?
I have a 2003 Nissan Maxima with 41000 KMS on it. The last time I took it in for service I was told that the car is due for a transmission flush.

A: A tranny flush can wait til 100,000 miles, IF, the fluid on the stick is still that healthy pink color (not dark) and doesn’t have the tell-tale burnt smell to it. I’m guessing that Nissan recommends a flush at somewhere around 60,000. They recommend this because they have to consider their cars that end up in hot climates, or driving on steep roads as with mountain communities. Those things will take a heavy tole on trannies and the fluid. But regular driving that doesn’t involve those stresses can prolong a tranny flush until 90 to 100,000 miles.

Q: How do you remove the 6 disk CD Changer from the center console in a 1996 Ford Explorer Limited?
I just bought a new deck for my explorer and I would like to remove the old CD changer so I can sell it. How do you remove the 6 disk CD Changer from the center console in a 1996 Ford Explorer Limited?

A: it’s bolted in. just remove the bolts. the wiring actually runs from where the radio is through the console so if you’re wanting to sell the wiring to you will need to remove the entire center console.

Q: What is the easiest way to install aftermarket radio in my ford explorer?
I have a 1997 ford explorer eddie bauer and i want to put an aftermarket sterio in and i know somewhat what im doing but im not familiar with the wiring on the truck. Can someone please help me out with this? What would be the easiest way to get this wired up? The aftermarket sterio is a sony xplod cd deck. thank you

A: You can go to a stereo shop and buy an adaptor so that you do not have to cut any wires, it is an easy plug and play, or just have them install it and they might charge you around 30 bucks.

If you are going to do it yourself (first pull the radio fuse or disconnect the negative battery cable), just cut off the harness for the stock stereo and connect the wires from the new stereo. The usual setup is: 8 wires for the speakers (each has a positive and negative), one constant power, one power when the key is on, one ground, one remote and rca wires for amp. Some also have extra wires for dimmer and power antenna. Its not hard to do, Good luck.

Q: How much could I get for a 1997 Ford Explorer; trading in to a dealership for cash?
As said, my car is a 1997 Ford Explorer. It’s driveable, given it needs some work considering its age. It’s got about 250k on it, good condition. Any ideas?
The sites not working for me.

A: A realistic retail price on that truck with the high miles is anywhere from $2000 to $3500 depending on the condition.

Trade in value at a dealership would be half of that…probably between $1000 and $2000.

You are much better off selling that truck yourself on autotrader.com, craigslist.com, ebay.com or your local newspaper. Putting a For Sale sign on the truck would help too.

Q: I am having a problem with my 92 ford explorer stalling out can some one help?
My 92 ford explorer keeps stalling out, I have change the fuel pump, fuel filter, I have also cleaned the MAF sensor, and cleaned the idealar. My question is what else can I do to stop it from stalling out.
Doesn’t matter on weather and as far as the vehicle being hot or cold it doesn’t matter. There is a weird thing though the radio stays on how ever the power steering quits this is all when it stalls.

A: You should check all the vacuum hoses and if not that maybe your fuel injectors might be bad or your fuel pump is going bad or your fuel pressure regulator might also be bad. And dont go to autozone they will tell you to get something you dont need and they dont have obd1 to check it anyways.

Q: What do I need to transfer my 94 Ford Explorer Electric 4wd to manual?
I have a 94 Ford Explorer and when I go off-roading my electronic 4wd doesnt always lock in, and I would like to change it to a manual 4wd. I know I need to get new hubs but is there anything else I need to convert it?
and what is the website to find parts

A: you need hubs and a conversion kit… you can get everything from warren for about 300$

Q: U Haul will not rent a trailer if I use a Ford Explorer. What companies will rent trailers to Ford Explorers?
I just discovered it is U Haul’s policy not to rent trailers if you are attaching them to a Ford Explorer. I have looked for an alternative trailer rental company and cannot find one. I am needing a one-way trailer rental from St. Louis to Nashville. Any help is appreciated!

A: Just rent a truck with a trailer and pull the Explorer!

Q: What is the best type of sub woofer to put in a Ford Explorer?
I have a 1993 Ford Explorer and love rap music with a lot of bass. I have regular speakers but they lack the umph that i want. I was thinking about getting subs and amps? But i have no idea what would be the best route to go on this or the cost of it. If anyone has any ideas, it would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

A: 12″ subs should do the job..since you like that boom you’ll want to put them in a ported or vented enclosure…

the brand is all up to you

Q: How to replace a 2001 ford explorer door lock actuator?
How do you replace a door lock actuator on a 2001 Ford Explorer front driver side. My door will lock, but will not fully unlock when using the keyless entry. When I use my key, it pulls the bracket off of the turn key. It does unlock when I pull the interior handle, so I’m assuming it’s the actuator.

A: by takingb it to an dexpert that handles your type of car problem.

Q: My wife has a 98 Ford Explorer and the drivers wheel is loaded with brake dust; bad caliper?
My wife has a 98 Ford Explorer and the drivers wheel is loaded with brake dust, and the passenger wheel has very little. I really don’t feel any pulling when braking or when driving. I also notice the driver rotor seems to be wearing a bit faster and the psnger side looks like normal wear. So, which calipre is bad, the driver side or passenger. I am thinking the driver side might be sticking just a little bit. I have cleaned all the slides and put brake grease, but still the same results.

A: I somewhat agree with the other answerer.
However, if you’re going to one side, DO THEM BOTH.
All you will do if you do one side, is neglect the other side and the braking will be different.
If you’re going to spend the time and money to do it, do it right the first time and replace ALL the components on one side as you do the other.

ADDED:
Oh…I just had a thought.
Who did the brakes last?
Did they replace one rotor, and not the other?
“China import crap”

Go back and find out what was done BEFORE you had this problem.
Then perhaps you will know what is the cause.

ADDED:
OH MY GOD!!
Don’t use ceramic pads on stock rotors!!!!!!!!
Pads are cheap, rotors are not.
SEMI-METALLIC. Unless you’re racing this truck on the track???

ADDED#3
Ceramic pads are harder than stock rotors and will wear the rotors out faster than the pads.
Unless you upgrade to “racing” rotors, you’ll do more damage than good.

Q: What kind of stereo do I need to purchase for a 1995 Ford Explorer?
I have a 1995 Ford Explorer. I noticed that the stereo is larger than what is typically sold at Wal-Mart. Is there a special type of stereo/CD player that I need to purchase — or are they typically uniform in size/setup? Thanks for the help!

A: Your best bet is to have the staff at a car stereo outlet take a look at the vehicle, and explain what choices you would have for a good installation. Most will do this free of charge.

Q: How much weight Can my ford explorer tow?
i have a 1994 ford explorer 4×4. i want to pull a horse trailer with a horse in it (he weights 1100lbs) how much total can my suv tow? or where would i find that out?
it is a V6 by the way.

A: Call the local Ford dealer for an accurate weight.
Also, it may be displayed on a tag on the edge of the truck door post.

Q: What is the cruise controls beside a steering wheel on a 1999 Ford Explorer called?
I have a 1999 Ford Explorer, and my cruise control pieces on either side of the steering wheel are getting worn out. I want to replace them. What are they called? What’s the easiest way to replace? Sources please. Thanks!

A: New switch pods are available from Ford, & the cost depends on weather your have the stereo controls in the switch pod along with the cruzz. The pods are held into the rubber steering wheel cover by just the rubber itself, no other fasteners. Take a pocket knife, slip it between the pod & the rubber, and slowly pry the pod out. I got new pods for my ‘02 Merc, with the stereo controls in the pod, for about $120 directly from Ford. I replaced the original pods with the new ones in the Ford parking lot.

Q: Can i trade in my Ford Explorer with a broken transmission?
I own a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport and recently the transmission went out on it. No reverse, and is not shifting correctly, pretty much the transmission it screwed. I owe around $4,600 on it and im trying to decide wether to get it fixed or try and trade it in for another car, but im not sure if i even have a value for it since the transmission is broke. So would i get anything for it?

A: yeah owing that much and your transmission is not working i would say you have no trade value a dealer would tack on another 7500 to trade it you would be better fixing the transmission and pay your balance down and then trade

Q: How to get to the spark plugs on 2001 Ford Explorer?
I want to know how to get to one of the spark plugs on the left back of a 2001 ford explorer. I can see it but it’s so close to the compressor I’m wondering if I have to take out the compressor to get to it.

A: Do you have a 4.0L 6 cylinder? If so, some of the plugs can be accessed easier thru the fender well. Remove the front tires, then you can pull off the shield (rubber piece) that lays over the top of the upper control arm. You should be able to get at some of the plugs thru there.

Q: Have a Ford Explorer, need to locate the computer module code to lock/unlock the keyless entry keypad?
I have a 2002 Ford Explorer Sport 2-door and am trying to locate the computer module that contains the 5-digit master code for the keyless entry keypad system – I’ve had so many suggestions but nothing seems to pan out — – any help ?

A: I just bought a 2000 Explorer. It was a 4-door, but what we did was open the panel on the left side of the trunk. On mine there was a box in there (I forget what exactly the box was but it had cords coming out of it) that has a factory sticker on it. You need a flashlight and good eyes, but the keyless entry factory code was on the sticker. The Explorer (the 2000 anyway) can only hold 2 codes. It always has the factory code (from the sticker) and then you can use it to program 1 personal code. When you program your code you will erase the previous personal code.

We learned this from the owner’s manual. There are also Explorer Forums that are full of great information.

Q: which car to buy: Kia Forte Hatchback or Hyundai Elantra Touring?
I am a recent graduate with a low budget, but want a good car that is fun to drive and have settled on these two choices: a Kia Forte Hatchback or a Hyundai Elantra Touring. There isn’t much info out there describing which is better, and even when comparing side by side, it is difficult to tell. So I was hoping for some excellent yahoo questions advice. Which car is better and why? If you can support your reasoning with sound facts, that would be the best! Thanks for your help!

A: Choose neither… why not a domestic make? but to answer your question…
Kia and Hyundai cars you mention are mechanically cousins. No real difference between the cars unless cup holders interest you. I would opt for the new design of the Forte. The engine has a timing chain on the cams as opposed to the older belt design in the Hyundai. The Forte will be much more reliable

Q: Is the Kia Forte a better car than the Hyundai Elantra?
Currently looking at a car to lease and I want to know which one is better. The Forte is less expensive, but is the quality the same?

A: The Kia Forte performed better than the Hyundai Elantra in a comparison test of an automotive magazine. It says that the Kia has better steering feel and better shaped seats.

Generally, Kias are significantly improving and the build quality may seem slightly cheap, but I reckon that they will stand the test of time.

Q: How long should i wait to buy the kia forte koup?
i like it but $16-18k for a kia is too much for me, about how many miles or years should i wait for till its about$10-12k ish i know they depreate alot after driving them off the lot.

A: a couple of years.or they might have some kind of year end sale.

Q: Can I put a trailer hitch on my Kia Forte?
It is only for a light load of kayaks.

A: There are Class I, 1-1/4 inch hitches available for Kia Fortes. They have a tongue weight capacity of 200 pounds and a maximum towing weight capacity of 2000 pounds. In addition to the capacities of the hitch, you need to check the capacities listed in the owners manual to see if your Forte is capable of pulling the trailer load you are planning on towing.

When towing anything, you should not exceed the lowest rated component of the tow set up whether that is the hitch, the vehicle, the drawbar or hitch ball.

Q: which is better, kia forte koupe or hyundai tiburon?
i have a 2010 kia forte koupe sx. its the top model you can get and it looks awesome, its copper (: my friend has an oldish (im not sure what year) hyundai tiburon in black. we were talking one day and of course he thinks his is better while i think mine is better. i just wanted to know which one really is.

A: well they are both korean…and im not too much a fan of korean automobiles. Its not really a question of better. They are both nice rides. They are both stylish (and the forte is sexy), kinda hard to say… I say the Koupe gets my vote based on apperance

In 1998, after a shake-up in the Korean auto industry caused by overambitious expansion and the Asian financial crisis, Hyundai acquired rival Kia Motors.

Q: Which is better: nissan sentra kia forte ford focus toyota corolla?
I want a car that has good gas mileage, a little ante up, and pretty spacious for a compact. Which should i choose?

A: The Ford Focus will be most reliable. All foreign cars fall short of Ford’s greatness. They simply sell the finest, highest quality, most well crafted cars in the industry.

The Japanese will break not long after you purchase them. Many of them have killed people because of their defects

If you buy the Kia, schoolchildren will throw rocks at you.

Q: Can I change the color of the writing on my Kia Forte stereo?
It is currently red but I was hoping to be able to change it to a different color

A: nope.

Q: Kia forte warranty relating car work and such?
Just bought a 2010 Kia it has a great warranty but I wan do or get some work done to it details badge it intake maybe a Turbo an exhaust what can I do and can’t do and also what can Kia for or do they offer

A: If you put a turbo on it, you can kiss your warranty goodbye. An exhaust probably won’t effect the warranty, though I doubt it would sound very good. An intake can go either way. If something like the MAF sensor went bad, your warranty claim would be denied. And if you touch the ECU, your warranty goes away as well.

Q: Is the Kia Forte expensive for repair, oil change, and ect?
Or the Kia Forte Koup

A: Asking about a car in the motorcycles section will just get you a bunch of smarta$$ answers. If you are so unaware that you don’t know where you are asking, how can you expect anyone to take you seriously?

Q: is the kia forte a good car?
I’m thinking about getting one but I want to hear from someone who owns or knows someone who owns one. Thanks in advance.

A: Yes, it is a solid compact car.
The only downside of the Forte is the resale value is horrible, but if you are going to keep it forever, then that doesn’t matter.
It’s less expensive than its competitors and it has a great warranty.

Do yourself a favor, though, and also check out the Forte’s brother, the Hyundai Elantra.
For about the same money, it is slightly more favorable per independent publications.

Q: Is the Kia Forte’s torsion beam rear suspension similar to a solid (live) rear axle, and how good is it?

A: If you think that it is going to corner like it is on rails or pull 1.0 g on the skid pad it won’t. It will do fine, for an econobox. A live rear axle is mainly on high end sports cars.

Q: Is the Kia Forte Koup a chick car?
I want one but a friend said it looked pretty girly, I don’t about his opinion, I just want others opinions.

A: i’d say it’s more of a poser car than a chick car.

Q: How much does the kia forte 2010 cost?

A: I will let you know when it comes out and they announce the price.

But it is the new version of the Kia Spectra, so expect it to cost the same as the Kia Spectra right now.
About $15,000. Or $21,000 with all options for the more powerful engine version.

Q: Is a Kia Forte a good car for a 16 yo girl?
Im looking at getting either a Forte or a Forte Koup. I’m looking for more information on this car.
Reliable?
Gas Mileage?
good car? etc.

A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here – carinsurance.deep-ice.com

Q: Kia Forte Koup SX or Nissan Cube for first car?
I’m looking for my first car, I want something that will be comfortable and fun to drive as well as have people in, out of the two, which is the best for a first car?

A: First car should be a hand me down from family learn how to drive a year with out accidents in a clunker. That said you could do worse, boxy new cars have interior room and most do not have high powered engines.

Q: Has anyone had trouble putting custom wheels on a Toyota Highlander?
I have a 2005 Toyota Highlander, and I want to put chrome wheels on it. I ordered some from a website that are supposed to fit a Highlander, but the wheel studs are too short, by the time you add a spacer and the rim, the lug nuts only thread on 3 turns.
Help. Please! I have lots of money in these wheels that, right now, are sitting in my garage collecting dust. And I doubt I’d be able to send them back, even though the website said that these fit.

A: If they said it will fit it should fit.
If it doesnt call them on it and make them take care of it for you. If not you will need to go to a body shop and have them change the studs on your car to extend out enough the be safe on the road with the wheels.
Good luck/

Q: Toyota highlander engine light and SVC light are on?
My 2005 Toyota highlander engine light and SVC light are on. checked gas cap which was loose, tighted. but the both lights still on. Do I need to do reset? or the lights will turn off by itself.

A: Lights will not go out by themselves. Sometimes you can find a way to get rid of the lights in your service manual if the lights were just signaling it is time for some service. But most likely they came on because some sensor, like an oxygen sensor, detected a problem. Take it to a service center or autozone type of place and they can use a scanner to see what caused the lights to come on. It will be a code that translates to the specific issue.

Q: where is the oil filter in a 2008 Toyota Highlander?
IT’s a Toyota Highlander 2008 v6. I can’t seem to find the oil filter

A: It uses a cartridge. Looks like this;

http://www.autozone.com/images/products/frc/frcch9972003.jpg

Usually in the oil pan. Look for a round access cover on the bottom of the oil pan, a few inches wide.

Q: Can a Lexus LS400 alternator fit into a 2002 Toyota Highlander Limited?
I have a 2002 Highlander Limited with music and I`m looking for a new alternator so I was wondering if the alternator in the Lexus LS400 will fit the Highlander.

A: i have seen both these vehicle before and they do look alike, but the amperage is different on them, and i think the bottom hole is also different, call any parts store and they can tell you if they are the same part or not, good luck with it.

Q: Toyota Highlander Daytime Running Lights?
I just purchased a new 2007 Toyota Highlander and it has daytime running lights. Is there any way to turn them off. I don’t like driving around with them on.

A: no, they are always on, i have a highlander too

Q: How much for brake job on 2004 Toyota Highlander?
I know that I am getting ripped off from the dealership but does anyone know how much a brake job on a Highlander costs? I am getting new pads and rotors and the calipers need “grinding”. I should have taken it to a local but I needed warranty work done as well. Thanks!!

A: Well, you’d probably feel you’d be getting ripped off from an independent garage then, too, based upo what you’re having to do on the brakes.

The main problem is when you’ve got to replace the rotors and drum (if any), because those are the main parts of the whole brake system, with the pads being the replacable parts. So if you wear the pads down too far, then you start wearing on the rotors, and then that imbalances everything. But you’re not alone in this problem, I’ve done it many times in my life, and then had to pay megabucks to fix everything back to normal.
If you replace pads within their lifetime, then the rotors stay good and you avoid the extra costs.

So once you get the warranty work done, and the brakes done at dealer, then you can go to an independent garage or one of the regional or national brake centers to get your brakes redone easily and with less expense. If you keep the brakes changed within their time frame, then you can stay with the cheaper prices. Sometimes, the brake garages will charge only $100 to replace pads, if you don’t need any work done on rotors, etc. But that’s where a garage makes it’s money, selling you the parts to fix your brakes, not merely replacing the pads. So if the rotors need replacing, then you’re looking at probably close to $100 for each one, if you’re lucky. there are cheaper ones, but they will rarely go with them unless you’re offered a choice.

So it’s a hard lesson to learn, but learn to get the brakes done on time, and you save hundreds of dollars in repairs, rather than just replacement costs. And don’t get the cheapest pads either. I’ve got a little 1991 Corolla, and went with cheap pads, and I can tell it’s harder to stop car. I”d rather get the expensive ones, and make sure I won’t be slamming into someone’s rear end in the future.

So with having to replace rotors (on all 4?) and pads, I’d say it can cost you easily $500 up to $700. With proper future maintenance, it might only cost you $100 for all 4 pads.

Q: how can i solve the jerking on my toyota highlander 2005 steering when turning to the extreme right or left?
when turning to the right or left or going over bumps, i am getting a jerking on my steering wheel on my 2005 highlander. It also does occur when i am parking my highlander. How do i solve this issue?

A: Lol, that’s because as you go over the bump it contacts your wheels at different times, which makes the wheels want to turn, which creates a jerking feeling.

When you go straight both wheels contact the bump at the same time so it doesn’t try to force the wheels to change direction.

There’s nothing to fix.

Q: What is the tow prep package for the Toyota Highlander?
I bought a 2010 highlander with the “tow prep package”, but my impression is that I still need a wiring and tow package to be able to tow anything, so what part of all of this is the “tow prep package”?

A: A tow prep package usually consists of A. transmission cooler ( a little radiator for transmission fluid ) B. a hitch and trailer light plug installed. C. there should be contained in the glove box a pigtail with a plug. This is for a brake Controller when you attach the pig tail to the control wiring all you do is plug in the control under the dash. Somtimes tow packages have other eenhancementsas well, like heavier shocks, or suspension. Check you VIN number if your truck has a factory package it will show in the VIN. some dealers add hitches etc. and call it a tow package…Be aware it is not always bad, but have the proper factory add one’s for cooling is the most inportant part….cooling is key to not overdoing anything. Stop in at a local RV store if you have one in your are you will get impartial help they know what to look for to help you and they have books with VIN codes to check against….Good luck

Q: My neighbors kids are tired of totally lame parents driving a Toyota Highlander?
so they always come to MY house in the morning for rides to school because they are tired of other kids teasing them about the Highlander. How should I explain this to their parents ?
There is no way I will do anything to force them to ride in it, sorry but I DO have a conscience.
lol Hollwow Chocolate Prius but the problem with your answer is that she used to drive other neighbor kids to school also but now they refuse to ride in the new highlander also.

A: Here’s how you should explain to the parents that they should not drive their children to school in a Toyota Highlander. …Just tell the parents that a Toyota Highlander is not safe to drive their children to school in because of all the reported unintended acceleration problems. Then give them these links to read regarding the severity of the defective acceleration problems found in this Toyota vehicle. There are two legitimate links below to support your information on these defective and dangerous vehicles. After reading these…they just might refuse to drive their children to school in a Toyota Highlander!

Q: Need Help with toyota highlander Air Conditioning?
My Highlander 2001 has a problem with air conditioning, the problem is that there is no air coming out but the A/C indicator light is ON.
I do not know what cause it and how to solve it, it seem that it suddenly stop or stanby.
Please help me solve this problem.
Thank in advance
How to know if my car running on fan not on A/C? how to change from fan to A/C?

A: If there is no air coming out at all (A/C, Heat, or Vent) then your blower is not working. Check the fuse. Once you got the blower working, then proceed for further checks. Check if you got AC or Heat.

Q: Why does my Toyota highlander make this noise?
My 2004 Toyota Highlander makes a wind noise, when you start the car and when you press on the gas. Does anyone know what this could be? 2 mechanics checked today and were unsure of what the problem was. what is this???!

A: Well I’m not a mechanic, but if you want my 2 cents worth it is probably because:

It is a Toyota

Q: How much cargo can a Toyota Highlander fit?
With 3 passengers……Can it hold 2/3 Bikes inside the cabin? Large international-type suitcases? Coffee table? Would love to hear the largest items you’ve carried in your Highlander.

A: 3 passengers and 2 bikes yes. 3 bikes? I doubt it unless you strap it to the roof.

Large suitcases? Yes. Coffee table? Yes!

Helped my friend move most of her items with her Highlander, and seen some LARGE school science projects for her daughter in there too!

BUT – for the money the new body RAV4 has almost the same amount of passenger and cargo room. It costs less and according to my friend who works for Toyota Corp. its outselling the Highlanders by a mile.

=)

Q: Where can I find a crate engine for a 2004 Toyota Highlander, 4 cyl, 2.4L, 2wd?
I’ve found some used and remanufactured engines, but would like to get a crate engine if they make them for a Toyota Highlander.

A: I can only give you another source for remanufactured engines and transmissions that is reliable:

http://www.jasperengines.com

Q: Toyota Highlander driver side door lock doesn’t work when I use the remote or push the button what is wrong?
I noticed it was sluggish with the remote thought it might be the remote battery but today it stopped working all together. The beep and flashing light as well as the locking of the other doors is a little sluggish but the drivers side door is non responsive to the remote or the console button. I can lock it with the key or the manual lock next to the handle. What may be wrong?

A: the door lock actuator is bad they cost about 38.00 and you have to pull the door panel off the job should not take an hour at most

Q: Is it possible to get a toyota highlander dvd system with local channels?
Even if you have to get it put in by someone else.

A: no such animal

Q: ford mustang?
is ford mustang crobra only model that use DOHC 4.6 on 93-02?

A: To answer your original question, the Cobra is NOT the only Mustang that came with the DOHC 4.6. The 2003-2004 Mach 1’s also had the DOHC 4.6.

You specifically stated 93-02, so that may be out of your specified range, but I figured it would be important to note.

Also, the Mustang Cobra first saw the DOHC 4.6 for model year 1996.

1993 Cobra = OHV 5.0
1994 Cobra = OHV 5.0
1995 Cobra = OHV 5.0
1996 Cobra = DOHC 4.6
1997 Cobra = DOHC 4.6
1998 Cobra = DOHC 4.6
1999 Cobra = DOHC 4.6
2000 Cobra R = DOHC 5.4
2001 Cobra = DOHC 4.6
2003 Cobra = DOHC 4.6 (Supercharged)
2004 Cobra = DOHC 4.6 (Supercharged)

2003 Mach 1 = DOHC 4.6
2004 Mach 1 = DOHC 4.6

Q: Ford Mustang?……………….?
Im looking at Ford Mustangs 2000-2004. I have several questions so please help me out.

-How high would my insurance be with a mustang as a 16 year old boy with drivers ed, pretty good grades, in the suburbs of NY monthly?(estimate)
With a v8? With a v6?

-What is bad car mileage on a mustang 2000-2004? Is 100,000 bad? 50,000?

-How do I know that there is absolutely no problems with the used mustang before I buy it from the dealer? With the engine or ANYTHING else on the car.

-Give me some pros and cons of the v8 and v6 engine. Which is faster?, louder?, and cheaper on insurance?

I love the power and speed on mustangs but Im not so sure its a good car for 16. PLEASE HELP ILL GIVE BEST ANSWER FOR WHOEVER CAN ANSWER MY QUESTIONS WELL.

A: I think is cool that you want a Mustang v6 should be cheaper in Insurance just because you are 16 years old. as far as milage some where between 50,000 to 90,000 will be a good barometer to stick by, just dont buy a convertible beacuse the insurance will be much higher.

Q: Ford Mustang?
I am ## years old and I need to go ahead and look for an old car to fix up to drive after I get my license. Do any of you peeps no any one who has an old mustang GT, Charger RT/8, or Camaro.

A: Check your local newspaper listings, and my advice is a 69 Charger RT. Good Luck

LMAO…never hear of those “junk”? where are you from? because we call that good old American MUSCLE. you kids in your little tunner cars, rice burners driving round, you wouldt know a real car if it came and whoped your butt, and trust me, they would. Just because your too damned stupid to know what a 440 6pack is, or know that the 71 Hemi’Cuda, was and is the king, rivaled only by the 67 or 69 Charger, dont mean you gotta come here and try to tell us that your petty little rice burner is cool, because kid, untill you’ve expirenced Classic Muscle, you dont know what cool is.

Q: Ford Mustang?
I have a 2004 Mustang and everytime I start to accelerate, it makes this weird sound like a whistle sort of. It is within the hood in the engine or something. After it shifts gears, it doesn’t do it anymore. what could this be?

A: air conditioner belt

Q: Ford Mustang?
what is the difference between just Mustang and Mustang GT (excluding engine parts etc.) For example, shapes of the car?

A: The GT will have the front fogs as standard (they are available as part of the Pony Package on the regular V6 model), rear spoiler, twin exit exhaust, louvers instead of rear passenger side windows.

Q: ford mustang?
so wats up with my 94 mustang when i put it in gear i gotta keep the brake on hard cuz its like it wants to go without me pushing the accelerator

A: i actually had the same problem with my 2000. it ended up being a problem with the ecu. lucky for me my pappys a former car guy and he got his hands on the software for it. so unless you got connections its one of those things you have to go to the mechanic for. sorry

Q: ford mustang?
what is the performance specs on a 4.0 v6 mustang convert. is it adequate? year 2006

A: PLEASE do not get a v6 if you are a true mustang fan you would slap your self in the face for even thinking about a v6. if you want a mustang YOU GET A V8 end of story.

Q: ford mustang?
how much milage is too much when buying a used mustang gt. Also how much is the average life a of a mustang gt

A: If the mustang is a gt (v8 engine) and was built in 1998 or newer, you will get many miles out of a mustang. You are safe to about 150,000-250,000 miles without worrying about having to replace the engine. If the car has been beat on, then you will get closer to the 150k mark, if it has been well taken car of, then you will get 250k or more out of it. The same rules apply when buying a mustang, first and foremost, make sure it is a v8 mustang (prior to 1994, there were not only gt v8 mustangs, but you could also buy a lx v8 mustang). The second rule of thumb is try to buy 1998 or newer. You can go all the way back to 1988 and still get a quality mustang but ford really started to make an extremely reliable v8 mustang in 1998. As far as “how much mileage is too much when buying a used mustang gt?” This just depends on the history of the car. If you are buying it from a older man or woman and they were the only owner, you can bet that more then likely it hasnt been beat on too badly and you can probally buy one with as much as 130k miles on it and still have a lot of life left. If you buy a mustang from a older man or woman and they are the 5th owner of the car or you are buying from a 20 year old kid, then chances are that the car probally has been driven rough. In that case I would either look for another one to buy or not buy one with more then 75,000 miles on it.

A: Go to a big U pick wreckers and look there for that hatch you’ll end up getting one for quite cheap about half the price of the regular wrecking yards around 50 to 75 bucks or so.

A: A similar year Mustang will be about all that works. Only a v6 version, too.

Are you looking for Subaru Outback Check out your top automotive resource NitroBahn.com

Q: The lowest price I can pay for a subaru outback at a dealer?
I want to buy a subaru outback for my first car. Does anyone know the blue book price and the lowest that a dealer would go? I have $1400. I would want a first or second-generation outback. A legacy would be my second choice. Thanks!
Also, it needs to be All-Wheel Drive.

A: You are going to have a hard time finding any Subaru worth buying for $1,400. I did an “autotrader.com” search for Outbacks and only 5 came up, 3 of them being sold as is at “auction”. Doing both Outbacks and Legacys still returned only 12 listings nationwide.

You can go here and search by make, model, location, etc and see what the asking price is for various vehicles.

http://www.autotrader.com/

I’d recommend that you keep your options open and look for a reliable vehicle from a trustworthy dealer, regardless of the make or model.

Subarus are great! I’m on my 3rd one now (2009 Forester) and believe me, it will be pretty close to worn out (just like the previous 2) before I’ll part with it.

Q: Trouble removing bezel in a 1998 subaru outback due to cigarette lighter…suggestions on how to remove?
I’m trying to replace a stereo in a 1998 subaru outback. I’ve found all the screws and can get everything to move except that it finally gets stuck on the cigarette lighter. Is there a trick to getting the cigarette lighter to come out?

A: there is probley a screw or something hidden in the back just try to feel around for any screws cause sometimes u mite miss one or maybe there is some clips or something thats holding it in place there also mite be something in the back that can be holding it so that mite be another reason that it wont come out

Q: What is similar to a Subaru Outback?
I’m looking for a car that is similar to a 2001-2007 Subaru Outback, I want it to be some what rugged, decent gas mileage example highway 25 or better, and has all wheel drive.

A: You might find several that are basically similar, but you would never find one that is a better vehicle or has a better AWD system than Subaru.

Q: What is a good selling price for a 2000 Subaru Outback with leaking head gaskets?
Dealership recommended having the engine replaced due to the high miles (185,000) along with the headgasket issues, but no further engine damage was verified by them. We’ve simply decided to buy a new car instead of replacing the engine.

Has a few dents/scratches on drivers side, but otherwise body and interior are in pretty good shape.

A: not much chance of selling except for parts. blown head gasket is bad news. may be cracked block from overheating.

Q: What is the difference between the subaru outback’s traction and forester’s traction?
I’m refering to the diesel models

A: They don’t offer diesel models in the US, but they have some pretty cool ones overseas that aren’t sold here due to emissions standards. Outbacks and Foresters use the exact same drivetrain so no difference that way, Outbacks are heavier so maybe a little better in that respect.

Q: How do I set the clock on a 1999 Subaru Outback clock radio?
There is no button that says “clock” at all. There is a “set” button but it seems to only set the radio. I tried using the volume dial to change the numbers but usually there’s another button you need to use at the same time.

A: try holding the display button in and hitting the tune buttons up or down one change the hour and the other change the min good luck

Q: Where is the water pump located on a 1997 Subaru Outback?
Also, where is the thermostat located?

A: Water pump is just off center of the front of the engine. You need to first remove the radiator (with fans attached), both accessory belts and pulleys, then the crank pulley (harmonic balancer). Then you can remove the timing covers, and you’ll see the timing belt, and the water pump is to the right of the crank gear. You have to remove the timing belt to remove the water pump.

Thermostat is right on the bottom of the water pump, under the domed housing that the lower rad hose goes to.

This is an easy job, but if you’ve never done one before, I strongly suggest you either take it somewhere, buy a chiltons/haynes manual, or browse the web for a good step-by-step procedure.

Q: I need to replace the radiator on my 1997 subaru outback legacy?
Anyone know the specifications on what radiator will fit? It is a 2.2L 4 cylinder vehicle.

A: 1…buy one made 4 it…

Q: I have a 1999 Subaru Outback, and am having intermittant trouble with accelerator response?
On occasions when accelerating from either a standing start or from a slow speed the revs fail to increase. After aprox 5 seconds the revs come up. On 1 occasion a continuous dull popping sound was heard coming from the inlet manifold.

A: Yeah, I would do a full tune up if you haven’t in a while. At least change fuel filter, spark plugs and wires, have the MAF/MAP sensor(i can’t remember which you have) checked. Maybe some fuel treatment too. So many problems can be fixed or prevented with good general maintenance. If that doesn’t fix it, than have it looked at because it’s too hard to tell from a general description. It could be engine problems or it could be a tranny issue. But it’s cheap to give it a tune up so I would start there.

Q: Infant car seat for 2005 Subaru Outback wagon?
Looking for some feedback about what is an easy to install but secure infant car seat for a 2005 Subaru Legacy Outback. We’re aware that middle seating probably isn’t an option in this car, but we’d like to know what others have used for their babies. Thank you.

A: The middle seat probably is your last choice to fit and tighten down your infant seat.

However, to selectr right or left, will depend on how you drive. Some people some how can reach far back on the driver back seat while some find it is too hard to twist their arm (or even my arm).

But, in case of accident, the driver (most of us) will make an adjustment to protect themselves first rather than the passenger side (unless you are trained to do so), which then means, you will probably fit the infant seat on the driver’s seat so that the impact is according to the driver (if the driver to protect him/herself, the infant will eventually protected under a crash).

Q: Why does the air conditioner on my Subaru Outback not work?
The auto is only four years old, only owned by us and well taken care-of. The air blows when turned on, but it isn’t cold. What could this be and how much will it cost to be fixed (rough estimate)? Thank you!

A: first do you have extended warranty, if so take it to a subaru dealer let them fix it. most likely it is low on R134a (freon) . you will have a leak somewhere you need them to install dye and recharge the system and check for leaks. the reason it blows cool air is system is low on charge or warm air the system is not turning on due to no freon or something wrong like a fuse or relay or switch or compressor

Q: Is the 2008 Subaru Outback a low emissions vehicle?
Just curious about the emissions rating on new Outbacks. Is it average, low, or high?

A: Most of them are Ultra low emission vehicles, but the ones sold in California, New York, Connecticut, Maine, and all the other states that have adopted Californias Clean Air status, then they are PZEV, or Partial Zero Emission Vehicles, which is the cleanest you can get any engine out their to be.

Q: How do i disable the seat belt alarm on my 2007 Subaru Outback please?
Any suggestions? I’m pretty handy with a spanner etc. Any help is greatly appriciated.
Please note this is not for the purpose of being reckless, i have a long driveway that i have to get out of the car to get the mail at the end of and it is very annoying to put the belt on and drive at 20ks an hour for 300 metres…

A: You will just have to put up with it. I know what you are saying I used to work at a Subaru dealer and when moving cars around it can be annoying because it chimes stops then chimes again. You’ll have to live with it. Be glad you have one of the best engineered and safest cars on the road.

Q: How do i get a subaru outback’s driver’s window to go up when the rocker switch is not functioning?
The window goes down fine but it will not go up. i dont want to buy a new switch. do i hard wire it or dissasemble the motor assembly that moves the window?

A: Pull the switch out and jump a wire from the hot side of the switch to the lead that reverses the motor . Trial and error.

Q: Where to run speaker wires to car stereo in a 2000 Subaru Outback?
The wires going from my stereo to my speakers are no longer working, so I am looking to replace them. What is the best way to run the wire from the speakers to the back of the stereo, and what type of wire/gauge should I use?
Will I be required to move any part of the dashboard to get the wires to my stereo?

A: you can just run the new wires under the carpet along the doors. The plastic foot guard is just held down by clamps and will pop right off. it is very simple. You can just use 14 gauge wire will work fine. once you run the wire to your speaker, just clamp the foot guard back on.

Are you looking for Nissan Rogue Check out your top automotive resource NitroBahn.com

Q: Is the Nissan Rogue a car mostly for females?
I’m looking at new cars, and I know I want an SUV but I want something that is typically driven by a male. I like Nissan a lot, and I do like the Rogue, but from what I hear it is typically a mom-mobile. I don’t want to drive around in something like that, but then again it may save me $$ in the long run in insurance. I also like the Nissan Juke a lot, but it’s a little too small for my tastes.

A: No it is for either.

the Rogue is simple an entry level suv.

Although, I do see more women buying them and fathers buy them for daughters going to college. Also I would never own one, but it does not mean you can’t. Rogues and Jukes are close in size

but I would reccomend the Juke, Turbo Charged,,,,,,188HP and alot of torque

Q: How many gallons of gas can the Jeep Patriot hold? How many gallons of gas can the Nissan Rogue hold?
I’m having difficulty finding out how much these two vehicles hold.

A: Based on a 2011 model the Jeep is 13.5 and the Nissan is 15.9 Not hard to check out at all.

Q: How much under MSRP should I pay for a new 2010 Nissan Rogue SL AWD?
I have heard that I can get a good deal on a 2010 model since the 2011 models are out now. I would like some input on what I should offer and what kind of price I should expect to pay. The model I want has an MSRP of about $24,000

A: $20,820

http://amexnetwork.zag.com/configurator.html?makeId=2258&modelId=974&upfrontPricing=Y

Q: Nissan rogue phone system stuck in Spanish?
I just bought a 2008 Nissan Rogue, and when I went to explore the hands-free phone system… it talks in Spanish and displays everything on the radio screen in English. Anyone know how to make it operate in English? Thanks

A: Yes other languages have a different word of almost everything. Do you have a Owners hand book I had a Bluetooth come in talking French and it was really weird. Section #4 page 29 you push “phone/talk 5 seconds and phone end ” to select the language you want then continue on to pair your phone… Been there done that Good Luck. If you do not have a owners manual set better get a set or borrow some and have them copied. That owners manual booklet won’t hurt to open it.

Q: How does Nissan Rogue compare with Toyota Rav 4?
Which car rides quieter?

A: http://www.edmunds.com/apps/nvc/edmunds/VehicleComparison?styleid=100920103&styleid=100944555&maxvehicles=5&refid=&op=3&tab=ratings
seems like they compare very well with each other, so its really up to what you like. For me I’d get the Rav4 because it has a V6 option with towing package and 3rd row seat.

Q: Any opinions on the Nissan Rogue?
I am in the market for a new car.

I think I’ve settled on the Nissan Rogue. Everything I’ve read has been positive. Any Rogue owners out there that have any thoughts/opinions/suggestions?

A: The rogue is a nice little SUV. Its pretty much just a smaller version of the murano. Its been out for a couple of years. Havent had too many problems with the rogue. Nothing big atleast. If your worried that its a newer model for nissan you can always go for the murano. The 09 is a new body style from the 08. Little bigger. little more room. The 09 has alot of options the rogue doesnt.

Q: Mitsubishi Outlander or the Nissan Rogue?
We were in Markham, Ontario today to check out a new car for mom, and we were trying to make a decision between the Rogue and the Outlander. Both are 4Wd, and both are about the same price for both the V4 ($34,000) and the V6.

So between these 2 which do you recommend?

A: Defenitely get the V6, I would recomends looking at the Ford Edge. But between the two you have I would go for the Nissan.

Q: Which car is safer in your opinion? A Nissan Altima, or a Nissan Rogue?
Looking at safe vehicles, anyone know what is safer for crash tests? Any Nissan mechanics?

A: Well for the 2009 Nissan Altima it has been reported that the safety crash test ratings have received five stars. The interesting thing is that in all of the major areas such as frontal, passenger, driver side, rear occupant, and rollover tendency, the vehicle received 5 stars which is the highest quality rating.

Here is the site for the Nissan Altima:

http://www.internetautoguide.com/crash-tests/09-int/2009/nissan/altima/index.html

As for the Nissan Rogue, you are getting the same high quality. According to U.S. News the Rogue not only received five stars in each category just as the Altima, but it received an overall rating of 7.8 which is well above average.

Here is the site for the Rogue:

http://usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/cars-trucks/Nissan_Rogue/Safety/

Now in my opinion, whether you get an Altima or a Rogue, you are getting high quality. Its really up to you which vehicle you get because either way you aren’t losing.

Q: is the Nissan Rogue a good car choice for a couple expecting a baby?
is there enough trunk space and room enough for the infant seat in the back seat?

A: I have driven Rogue for almost 2 years now, initially a rented 2008 S FWD and latter bought a 2009 SL FWD. I too have a kid and when I was searching for a car for my family I was looking for
Safety , Security, NVH, reliability , economy, Space, Ease of maintenance, Look and feel, durability

Here is how arrived at the decision of buying 2009 SL FWD and how I feel about the car as an owner.

Safety : Five Stars rating, Front Passenger side and Rollover rating as are Four Stars. Big blind spots due to small and raised rear window. But side view mirrors are very large, large enough to take care of that.

Security : At par with other cars. Comes with standard equipments.

Reliability : It has been in market for just two-three years so there is not enough data but over all data so far indicates far less trips to dealers for issues in comparison to competition.
NVH : Excellent vis-a-vis other cars in its class. Some wind noise at freeway speeds but overall quality excellent.

Economy : I am getting 27 US mph in city conditions in stop and go traffic. What more can I ask for

Space : Enough space to travel with one kid. Not enough with two. Remember its chassis is same as what is used in Nissan Sentra car.

Ease of Maintenance : I just have had to reduce idle speed during initial service and that’s it. You may want to avoid AWD version though. There are significant complaints about tranny issues in it.

Look and Feel : It has a French feel a bit classy, Interior material is good quality.
Durability : Its in market for just two years so cant say much on it. But it has been ranked well in Top CUV cars surveys.

You may want to read how users feel about this car at http://www.nissanrogue.org. It may help to browse through different issues, scenarios and opinions.

Q: what is the song that is played in the new 2010 Commercial for the Nissan Rogue?
At the end, a lady is packing the trunk of the car

A: Cobrastyle by Teddybears featuring Mad Cobra…..seriously. youtube it

Q: Which SUV is a better buy, Nissan Rogue or Saturn Vue?
I am currently in the market for a new car. I’m still young and looking to start a family in the next few years so i want a family friendly, yet nice looking SUV. I’m having trouble with choose between the Nissan Rogue and the Saturn Vue. I keep getting mixed reviews from all other sites. There are so many questions. American vs. foreign, 4cylinder vs. 6 cylinder, style, etc. If anyone has any suggestions on these models or have owned one, i’d love to hear your opinion, hopefully it’ll help me choose! Thanks!

A: Seeing how Saturn is going out of business, I would defiantly go with the Nissan, no question. Nissan’s do have a better track record, but with Saturn you could probably get more equipment for the same price. But what good does that do when they aren’t in business. They are both great looking, but timing is wrong. Oh, and also, when Saturn goes away, your resale value will plummet, so all around Nissan is better.

Q: Is the Nissan Rogue a good car choice for a couple expecting a baby?
is there enough trunk space for everything and is there enough room in the back seat for an infant seat?

A: we have the nissan altima 09 and we love it. the stroller, which is the big one that hold the infant carrier, fits in the trunk and we usually go grocery shopping once a week and they fit in the trunk with the stroller. Also, the back seat has plenty of room, we have a convertible car seat for my daughter and a booster seat for my son.

Q: I need a nickname for my black nissan rogue?
so far posh and cronk are out, any one have something funny for me?

A: barracks ghetto ride
my gangsta prez ride

Q: What song by The Clash is featured in the Nissan Rogue commercial?
I cannot place that song, but I know it is the Clash.

A: Pressure Drop
by The Clash

Q: I am getting a new car this summer. Dodge Charger or Nissan Rogue?
I have done all of my research, and these are the two that I have picked out. I just can’t decide between the two.

A: Alex is wrong. Go with the Charger. It’s on a E class mercedes frame with there suspension and Tran. along with a Lifetime Pwr Train warrenty. You will enjoy the ride and power of the Hemi Charger along with 25mpg with 340 hp not to bad.

Q: How to make subaru forester stop beeping with remote unlock?
I just got a 2004 subaru forester. I love the car and only have this one complaint: is there any way to disable the obnoxious beeping when I unlock or lock the car via remote? I live in an apartment complex and I don’t want to anger my neighbors.

A: It tells you in the owner’s manual. I believe that you hold both the lock and unlock buttons down for a few seconds.

Q: How difficult and expensive is it to replace front seals on a Subaru Forester?
Have a 1998 Subaru Forester, with an oil leak. From the front crankshaft seal. Wondering if a sealer will do the trick. How expensive for a repair shop? How difficult to do it yourself?

A: Front crankshaft seal leak is common on the engine you have. Oil pump leaks are extremely rare on that engine, though common on pre-Legacy engines.
At any rate, it is a bit of a job to replace the $10 seal, as the work to replace it is about the same as the timing belt replacement….it all has to be removed.
Do NOT use any kind of “sealer”.
It would be helpful to know how many miles on your engine, how close to timing belt replacement (at which time a competent mechanic would not only replace that seal as a matter of routine but also the camshaft seals), etc., but just so you know there is usually more to the job than just the seal replacement, which should take about three hours for a competent Subaru mechanic.

Q: how do i replace the wiring (not the bulb) for a 1998 subaru forester headlight?
I bought a replacement plug for my headlight unit, which has 3 or 4 different colored wires running out of it. How do I install this plug into my 1998 Subaru Forester, and how do I remove the old plug as well? Any help on where to buy a cheap saudering iron would also be awesome. My mechanic said he’d do this all for $120. Is that fair? Thanks!

A: It shouldn’t cost $120 to have a socket replaced. Your mechanic is ripping you off. You can buy a cheap soldering iron at radio shack.

Q: Thinking of buying a Subaru Forester but want to know the towing capabilities.?
Would need to occasionally tow a 1.5t mini digger, would a Subaru Forester be capable of this? Would be about an 03 or 04 reg.

A: The best way to know if a vehicle is capable of towing a certain load is to check the owner manual. It should list tow capacities of the vehicle based on the different equipment options.

In addition to the power of the motor and strength of the transmission, suspension and frame design and other components of the vehicle make up the tow capacity. The hitch on the Forester will have capacities listed on it, but those are the capacities of the hitch. You would need to verify the vehicle’s capacities.

Remember, when preparing to tow, you must abide by the lowest rated component whether that is the vehicle, the hitch or any of the other components used to tow a particular trailer.

Q: A car salesman offered a once off only price for a Subaru Forester, please help?
Today I test drove a 2008 Subaru Forester XT (55,000km) with a reduced price from $33,990 taken down to $30,990. The salesman offered a one day price of $29,990. Do you think I could bring the price down further than this, and if so how much?

A: You should not pay 29,990 for a 2008 Forester XT; brand new could be had for that much or less. subscribe to consumer reports and get their price reports which show what the dealer paid and where you should start bargining from on this used vehicle. i would suggest paying the $34 for a year and getting unlimited price reports because you may decide you want to look around like I did. do some reading and if you can, buy from internet salesperson as they will send you offers, they work on volume so want to sell. consumer reports taught me everything i wanted and needed to know to negotiate a deal on my 2011 outback. good luck.

Q: What American car is comparable with Subaru Forester?
I love the looks of the Subaru Forester and will be getting a new car in the spring. I would like to keep it USA so am looking for a car compapable with the Forester

A: NON THEY ARE ALL GARBAGE . NON COMPARE TO A JAPANESE FORESTER

Q: Subaru forester??!?!?
What are your opinions on this suv? Its a japan made suv, so should i be worryed??
Will my insurance go up or down? what kind of gas mileage should i really expect??

Im hoping that this suv is as good as everyone says, since it seems to get good gas mileage for an suv and has awd that would be fun on dirt roads

A: It is an excellent vehicle, especially after the 2009 redesign, which gave the rear seat passengers more leg room and improved MPG. They are made of party domestic and partly Japanese components, but assembled in the United States, so your concern (which is honestly a bit silly) is only half valid. Subaru is number 3 in terms of reliability (including the domestic assembled models), right after Honda and Toyota, so no worries there.

MPG will depend partly on what year you get and how YOU drive. Anywhere from a lead-footed winter-in-the-city of 15MPG to a frugal driven all-highway-miles of well over 30MPG. We average 24MPG in our 1998 Forester, which sees as much off-road time as on-road. We can get up to 30MPG on road trips. We get 20MPG when towing our trailer. When we lived in Fairbanks, Alaska we averaged about 18MPG in the winter and 24MPG in the summer (with no windchill factor, January can often have *high* temps in the negative 20s). Realistically, I would expect most folks to get around 25MPG, but how you drive and where you drive are the two biggest factors.

In terms of insurance, your age and your driving record will again be the biggest influence, but Subarus are safe cars, often including safety features years before other manufacturers. You might say Subaru is the Volvo of Japan. They also are less prone to theft, since they are not as popular as Toyotas and Hondas. These two factors do help keep insurance prices down, but those are pennies on the dollar compared to driver age and driving record.

Q: Can you fit a twin mattress into a Subaru Forester?
I’m moving, and may not be able to check out a minivan,
but Subaru Forester seems just as long as a odyssey, so I was wondering if I can fit a twin mattress INTO the back of the car with the back seats down (only leaving the front two seats for driver and one passenger). I do not want to put it on top.
Thanks, and if I can fit it, how much more space may I have for other things?

A: Twin size is 39″x75″

2009/10 Forester cargo width at narrowest point(door): 39″
Forester cargo length 70″ plus 5″ if you move your seat all the way.
Ceiling length is 102″.

If you move your front seats forward, it might squeeze in, to lay flat on the floor. This is for 2009/10 Forester.
For earlier models, you probably need to turn it sideways a bit. Narrowest point on earlier models is around 37″ x 65″ long. Also, you can always turn it on its side and push it all the way onto passenger seat. Floor to ceiling height is around 32″ in any Forester.
It will fit if you try. You can always put it on the roof, and tie it down. Thats how I moved. I did 65mph, with mattresses on top, and nothing happened.

Q: Does anyone know of somewhere i can buy a lift kit for a 2001 subaru forester?
I want to get my 2001 subaru forester lifted 3 to 4 inches but i can’t seem to find a place that sells what i’m looking for…anyone know of any places?

A: Something like this? http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/6116/img2153c.jpg

I have seen plenty of lifted Foresters and Legacy’s up here in the Northwest. I know it takes a lot of parts because raising more than a couple inches requires all new control arms and stuff to keep camber right. Maybe try contacting the guy’s at http://www.rallitek.com/. They seem to be where I see most of the lifted cars around here.

Q: Is there a stigma surrounding the Subaru Forester?
I want a Subaru Forester (I’m a young male) – but is there a sort of image issue with it? Will people think things of you?

A: Check out http://www.subaruforester.org/vbulletin/ . Mostly male owners and plenty of nice cars there. They are lots of fun and very reliable so don’t worry about what people think of them.

Q: What are the speaker sizes in a Subaru Forester (2001)?
I just got a Subaru Forester and I want to take the sound system up a notch. Where can I find the speaker sizes for the car so I don’t order the wrong size?

A: Front door speakers are 6-1/2″
Rear door speakers are 4″

Q: Subaru Forester 1999 security alarm trips randomly?
My Subaru Forester 1999 with factory alarm goes off randomly–especially late at night or in parking lots. How can I fix this or disable it? I don’t need the security alarm, but the keyless entry is helpful.

A: I had the same issue with my 98 Legacy… the alarm would sound randomly..first option is to have the dealer reprogram the keyless entry code.. as it may have ‘learned’ a new frequency besides the one for the keyless remote.. which means any kind of background RF (radio frequency) could set it off..if your vehicle has a shock sensor as part of the alarm system, to sense vibration or vehicle movement.. this could also be overly-sensitive.. and need to be adjusted by the dealer…Worst case.. just have the dealer disable the alarm, and leave the KE intact.. it might take a while to do.. but any good dealer should have a tech who is knowledgeable about this.

Q: My 2001 Subaru Forester has a burning rubber smell?
After driving my 2001 Subaru Forester at high speeds or for a long time, it tends to smell like hot or sometimes even burning rubber. It has 80000 miles on it so it shouldn’t be time for a new timing belt. What else could this be? Please help!

A: At the miles on your car it is likely a very slight oil leak from either the engine or the transmission. Even a drop or two of oil dripping on the hot exhaust system can raise quite a stink and be noticeable.
On the 2001 Forester it is often at the oil cooler right at the oil filter mount….just an occasional drop.
But oil leaks can be tracked down, so to put your mind at rest, see a Subaru specialist.

Q: Where can I find side window deflectors for my 98 Subaru Forester?
Hello, Ive been looking all over the web for side window deflectors for my 1998 Subaru Forester and I cant seem to find them anywhere. Please enlighten me Thanks

A: japanparts.com

Q: Car Seat fit problems in a 07 Subaru Forester?
Please, any recommendations for a convertible car seat (rear + forward facing) for my tall kiddo in a 07 Subaru Forester?

A: don’t know where you live but if you have a babies r us go there and ask a sales person if they can let you try the floor models in your vehicle.we had to do this with our mitsubishi and they were helpful they unhooked the floor models and came out with us of course and we were able to try them out.your only other option is having to buy them and try them and return until you find 1 that works

Are you looking for Hyundai Santa Fe Check out your top automotive resource NitroBahn.com

Q: Can you diagnose a 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe Check Engine light without a scanner?
I used to own a 1994 Honda Civic. When the check engine light came on, I could insert a jumper into the scanner plug and the Check Engine light would flash in a series of dots and dashes that I could then identify the diagnostic code. It was a poor man’s scanner, if you will.

I now drive a 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe. Is there a similar means to extract the Check Engine diagnostics without having to buy a scanner?

A: Nope. Anything built after 1996 is set up with an OBDII diagnostic system, and they wont “flash” codes. You can get your codes pull for free at your local AutoZone or O’Reillly’s, but without a scan tool that shows live data you’ll still be just pretty much guessing at which part to change. AutoZone will try to tell you which part you need, but they don’t know crap about crap, and they’re just trying to sell you a part you may or may net need. Pulling codes and swapping parts usually just ends up a waste of money and by the time you’re done you usually could have paid a shop to do the diagnostics for you.

Q: Can a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited pull a two horse trailer?
Hi! I have a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited and I was wondering if it could pull a two horse trailer and any adjustments needed to be made. Thank you!

A: It could probably pull an empty 2-horse trailer without any problems, but once you fill it with 2 horses and supplies you are going to damage your truck. The Santa Fe was not designed for heavy duty pulling and it is not safe to pull so much weight for your engine, transmission or brakes. I suggest buying a used full size pickup so that you don’t ruin your nice Santa Fe Limited. A large SUV like the Toyota Landcruiser or Ford Expedition could handle the job, but they are very expensive.

Q: How long will a Hyundai Santa Fe last?
I am thinking about buying a 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe that has 138,000 miles on it. I would drive it from Tucson to San Diego (~800 miles round trip) at most about once every other weekend. How long do you think it will last if I do regular maintenance on it? I’m a junior in college and will need it to last me for at least four years. Does this seem like it can work?

A: Depends how the previous owner took care of the car and how you will take care of the car, Personally, I wouldn’t trust a car that has more than 30k miles on it.

Q: Should I buy a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe with Front Wheel Drive?
I live in Connecticut and am considering buying a 2008 FWD Hyundai Santa Fe. Would you recommend looking into an AWD model? We do have harsh winters here and hill-like terrain. However, I have always owned FWD cars and never had any major issues in the snow. So I am thinking sticking with the FWD model in order to save cost in the sale price of the vehicle as well as saving in gas mileage would be the way to go. Any suggestions?

A: you have not had a problem stay with the FWD

Q: How to update a Hyundai Santa Fe Sat-Nav?
How do i update a Hyundai Santa Fe Sat-Nav?
How do i find the service provider on the Nav menu’s?

A: Navigate the NAV menu and find out the NAV service provider. Contact them at the number given and get the updated CD to download on you NAV system. Hyundai doesn’t provide updated maps because their not the provider of the software.
Second option is to find it as a pirate program on the NET. Not the best choice though.

Q: Trying to find Hyundai Santa fe Accessories?
I’m looking to customize my 2004 Hyundai Santa fe, but the problem is, is that I cant seem to find any legit websites (besides ebay) that would have accessories. I know its not the most common vehicle to customize but I want to stand out from everyone else. I know there are parts out there because I have done my research on other customized santa fe’s.

Any help would be appreciated!

A: Original accessories for hyundai Santa Fe can be purchased or ordered at Hyundai Dealer. You said you want to customize your Santa Fe, to make it stand out or different from other, i suggest you go to a custimize auto shop. They can and might have different design of accessories for your Hyundai. Its better to go to customize shop rather than Hyundai dealer so you can really be different from other Hyundai santa Fe.

Q: Question about oxygen sensors on a 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe?
I keep getting a check engine light on my 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe, code 133, which indicates the upper oxygen sensor on the rear manifold is lazy. I’ve changed it twice and can drive it about a day before the light comes on again, same code. What gives here?

A: What kind of gasoline do you use? I can only go by what dealers have told me so you decide if this is correct. Every time I have changed one (other than Hyundai cars also) they ask what kind of gasoline I use and am told if I use gas with alcohol in it will cause the oxygen sensor to go bad. I now try to avoid gasoline with alcohol in it and so far no problems.

Q: How much does it cost to replace Shocks and Breaks on a Hyundai Santa Fe?
My fiance says my shocks and breaks need to be replaced on my 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe. Any idea how much this is going to run me? Like $200? $500? $1000? I am stressing out over this, and Monday couldn’t come fast enough for me to take it to the mechanic! I am really stressed out about this!

A: Brake Pads for all 4 axles will be about $50-100 for a quality brand. Shocks/Struts will run you about $250-400 depending on the brand you choose. Labor will be 4-5 hours at the typical $70-90 per hour. So, a minimum of $700-1000 should cover both jobs. You can find all these parts on http://www.tirerack.com http://www.tirerack.com/suspension/Susptabl.jsp?autoMake=Hyundai&autoModel=Santa+Fe+2wd&autoYear=2002&autoModClar=&brand=all
Since you have an older vehicle, I’d just go with the cheapest struts they have, a set of 4 KYB GR-2 Strut is only $228+ shipping.
Here’s a list of brake pads, http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/results.jsp?autoMake=Hyundai&autoYear=2002&autoModel=Santa+Fe+2wd&autoModClar=&brand=&perfcat=premium
Satisfied Pro Perform OEM Pads are $45 for both front and rear, I’d get them since they are OEM quality.

Q: Does anyone know how to temporarily override the on-board dvd player on Hyundai’s Santa Fe?
We’re going on a 10+ hour trip and it would be nice for my passengers to be able to watch a video.

Now, for those safety nuts who are going to instantly respond with one shouldn’t be watching a video when driving, I couldn’t agree more. However, there are other people who can see the video screen.

I’m not looking for anything that would void my warranty. I’m asking any other Hyundai Santa Fe owners who might be know how to get into “Service Mode” on their units.

Thanks for any and all help!

A: Here is the truthful answer: No one knows

Q: How do I Change Hyundai Santa Fe Wiper Blades?
I just bought some more blades for my 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe from Canadian Tire. I can’t seem to figure out how to get the old ones off and put the new ones on. Has anyone done this before who knows how the mechanism works? I’ve been out in the cold working on it twice for about half an hour each time and have had no luck at all figuring it out.

A: the hyundai is a good car despite what the other person has said. to get the wiper blades off there are a couple of clips on the wiper arms. push the clip in and move the wiper arm out. then depending on how the blade is secured it should just pull out.

Q: Planning to buy a mini SUV.Should i go for the CRV,Rav,Suzuki Grand Vitara or Hyundai Santa fe?
I am planning to buy a mini SUV.I liked the CRV but the high price for both Rav and CRV.How abt the less famous ones like Suzuki Grand Vitara.I was in Australia recently i saw many Suzuki’s Vitaras around i liked the styling and the 2.7 L engine than the 2.4L of the others.Another one is the Santa Fe. Hyundai seems to be making value for money cars. They have improved considerably as shown by many consumer reports studies.Having reliability comparable to Toyota’s. I have a 95 model Accord which was damn reliable. And i have a soft corner for Honda CRV.But they are so costly.Hondas & Toyota’s they charge a high premium for their cars.

A: Hyundai Santa Fe has really improved this last year. The 2007 model is INCREDIBLE. It is a great car with unbeatable warranty, great price and it is one of the safest mid-size SUVs out there. Check out this link for some safety info:

http://www.iihs.org/ratings/summary.aspx?class=55

Q: How do I program 04 Hyundai Santa Fe remote entry fob?
I’m selling 04 Santa Fe for my 83 yr old aunt and she’s lost both remotes. I’ve found one on ebay but need programming instructions. Thanks

A: Turn the ignition from off to on three times within five seconds (don’t start the car). The indicator lights will both flash once. Then press one of the remote controller keys. Thats it.

Q: I’m all of a sudden missing the plastic roof rail cover for my 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe, can I get a replacement?
My wife and I recently noticed that one of the plastic covers was missing from the back of one of our roof rails for our 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe. Does anyone have a part number or know how we can get a replacement cover?

A: Check with the dealer, they have diagrams of the roof rack and you can point out the exact part you need. If it’s too much there, you can get the part number from them and search for the part yourself on ebay and other websites.

You can also visit your local junkyard, you might get lucky and find what you are looking for very inexpensive.

Q: how to fix headlight switch on a hyundai santa fe?
My high beams work but my low beams don’t on my 2003 hyundai santa fe. I checked both the bulbs and the fuses and both are good. So I’m figuring it’s the switch that’s gone bad. Is there a way to fix it on my own

A: Faulty relay?

Q: How much to repair deployed airbags in 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe?
I got in a minor collision and the airbags deployed in my 2001 Santa Fe there doesn’t seem to be much damage just scratched bumper and door along with the hood is not aligned right any clue on how much it will cost??
I got in a minor collision and the airbags deployed in my 2001 Santa Fe there doesn’t seem to be much damage just scratched bumper and door along with the hood is not aligned right any clue on how much it will cost?? During the crash there were no seat belts that were being worn.

A: There are specific items that are required replacement items when a deployment occurs or when an airbag light comes on…and there are some items that are “check only”. Check out the websites below for the EXACT answers to your questions including fault code charts and reset information. This site tells you exactly what needs to be replaced and how to access them (seat belts & all) on over 3500 cars. It’s a pay site ($14.95 / day), but it’s little money well spent to get the correct answers and to see exactly what you’re after…it uses pictures, not text, so you can see what you’re looking for.
This is the same website insurance companies and body shops use to determine what needs to be replaced.
Good Luck…it’s not too bad of a job & if your state allows it, used parts or parts from ebay should be ok
Lastly, here’s a page in this site that tells you which cars need a scan tool to reset the system and which ones can be done without it.

Q: How to get better gas mileage out of a 99 Nissan Sentra GXE limited edition?
From what i have heard my nissan sentra is suppose to get around 33-36 MPG on the highway. Well my car usually only gets around 28 miles to the gallon right now, and i have been trying out the lucas fuel injector cleaner, its seems to work for about 2 days then its goes to bad gas mileage again. Also i think i have to take into consideration is that it also is near 220,000 to 230,000 miles on it. can anybody give me tips please.

A: It’s supposed to get that mileage when new, after 220,000 miles, 28 it probably good.

Q: What amp wattage does the stock Nissan Sentra 2005 Special edition have?
I just bought two 12′ Kicker comp subs and I’m thinking I may have to buy a new amp to go with them but I know the special edition Nissan Sentra has a rockford system built into it. I doubt it has enough power in the stock amp but I was wondering if it’s worth a try.

A: You could try to hook up the two 12″ the stock 10″ woofer amp may make those kickers move a little. Stock rockford fosgate Stereo put out only 140 watts. But your right if you want any kind of sustained bass better get a good 1000 watt power amp.

Q: Best websites for aftermarket parts for my 1999 Nissan Sentra GXE Limited Edition?
I need some sites for aftermarket parts for my 1999 Nissan Sentra GXE Limited Edition. I’ve already added neons on the inside. Any more cheap upgrade suggestions? Best brake pads for the same car? Websites or personal advice is greatly appreciated!

A: www.andysautosports.com and www.jcwhitney.com are my favorites and have parts for some cars that no other site does.
other cheap upgrade suggestions would be..

cosmetics:
grilles, window tints, debadge emblems (i think cars look better debadged)

performance:
cold air or short ram intake, performance exhaust, fuel management or performance chip, new tires/rims

Q: How do I get the door panel off of a 1993 Nissan Sentra?
I have to replace the driver’s side mirror of my 1993 Nissan Sentra. Can anyone talk me through taking off the door panel without screwing anything else up?
The door doesn’t have power windows, either, just manual. I’ve taken all the screws out, but it’s still giving me trouble. What am I missing?

A: After removing all screws 1,remove clip from window winder handle, use small screwdriver or a good trick is to put a hand kerchief between the winder and door panel and pull it around the winder it will remove the clip, put your fingers between door panel and the door and pull panel towards you all the way around until panel is removed ,lift up the top of the panel to release it from the top of the door ,make sure all screws are removed first. good luck

Q: How much does it cost to fix an air conditioning unit in a 96 Nissan Sentra?
If you could also tell me what a 96 Nissan Sentra GXE should be worth, knowing that the air conditioner needs to be fixed?
The car is being sold for 2800, the KBB states this car should be worth 2200-2700 (fair to good), there is something wrong with the air conditioner, it not just empty.

A: go to kelly blue book .com for your info on net worth of vehicle, and if the a/c only needs a shot of freon it would only be in the neighborhood of 49 $ …….is the car worth it ? thats what you need to find out from kelly. does this help ?

Q: What is the difference between a Nissan Sentra SE-R and a Nissan Sentra SE-R VSpec?
I am looking at getting a 2002 Nissan Sentra SE-R but I can’t tell the difference between the regular SE-R and the SE-R VSpec. A little help would be nice.
I know that it is a 10 HP difference but I don’t know what gives it that extra power. I know that they both have a six speed manual tranny as well. So what is the difference?

A: SE-R VSpec has about 10-15 more horse power than the regular SE-R the VSpec also has more steering and handling features for better driving and handeling. they are both very close when it comes down to (0-60) the VSpec =7.1 and the SE-R is about 7.5 not much difference there practicly the same car.Hoped this helped you out and good luck on your purchase heres a forum regarding your question (http://www.automotiveforums.com/t28920.html)

Q: Where is the coolant temperature sensor on a 2002 Nissan Sentra?
After researching the “check engine” light for my 2002 Nissan Sentra, I’ve determined that the thermostat and coolant temperature sensor needed to be replaced. I swapped out the old thermostat for a new one, but I am having difficulty locating this coolant temperature sensor. I know absolutely nothing about car engines, and I keep on hearing more about the intake manifold and how it’s located near the fuel pressure regulator. I also have a Haines manual for my car, but the picture it provides is not helpful (3-7, figures 9.3a and 9.3b, to be specific). If anyone has any more specifics about the location of this, that would be MOST APPRECIATED! I went to Aamco and they quoted me at $200 to replace both parts. When I went to a local car parts store, I bought both parts for less than $40 and the thermostat replacement was very simple. It looks about the same for the coolant temperature sensor, I just can’t find the dang thing! Thanks for any help and clarification on this!!!
That’s exactly it, JP. I came up with a P0128 error and it was recommended that I replace both things because that would certainly take care of the problem.

A: You did not see it? On the 1.8 liter engine behind the alternator screwed into the Cly head that is the ECT (engine coolant temp sensor) sensor it has two wires. The temp sender for water temp instrument cluster is on the other side of the exhaust manifold and has only one wire. ECT codes are P0117 and P0118 indicates either to low voltage shorted or to high voltage open circuit. Or did your car produce a Thermostat function code P0128 and the heater is not getting hot?

Q: What is wrong with my 98 nissan sentra’s transmission?
I have a manual transmission nissan sentra and it will drive, but I can’t push the gas all the way because it won’t go any faster it will just rev like its in neutral, so I accelerate super slow. And my check engine light is on. What happened?

A: Sounds like your clutch is slipping, probably time for a new one : X

Q: How do you remove the headlight in a 2004 Nissan Sentra?
I bought a 2004 Nissan Sentra and I need to remove the headlight bulb. Please help!

A: Open up the hood, the little black round thingy that sits on the rear of the headlight assembly, twist it counterclockwise and pull it out.

Q: How do I sell my used Nissan Sentra in less than a month?
I currently live in Michigan (Ann Arbor) but am moving to New York in a month. I want to get rid of my 1999 Nissan Sentra (95,000 mile). What is the best and fastest way of selling this car? I’m asking for $2500. Is that too cheap? I posted an ad on craigslist but would it be quicker to try a dealer?

A: craigslist works great. try other online classifieds, maybe locally. and your price sounds reasonable.

posted my civic on it last summer and had a buyer the next day.

Q: How much would a clutch be for a 1992 Nissan Sentra?
I’m in Cleveland, Ohio and I’m trying to price check clutches for my Nissan Sentra. How much would one be to replace the one that’s going?

A: That depends are you doing the work yourself ?

If so then go online to your local parts stores and price a clutch kit. I did one for you at Advanced Auto: Beck/Arnley Clutch Set Part No. 061-9123 $161.99

If you have a shop do it for you, double or triple that cost with labor included.

Q: What did you pay out the door for 2011 Nissan Sentra?
I’m going to buy a 2011 Nissan Sentra, but I kind of want to get an idea of what other people are paying for it to see if I got a good deal. I’m getting the 2011 Nissan Sentra SR for $15,634 out the door, including taxes, fees, and tag. What did you pay for the Nissan Sentra, if you have one?

A: SR is a really Nice Sentra Have you used the Nissan web site? “nissanusa.com” those prices are manufactures suggested retail prices MSRP And become a educated customer as to features and options and prices most of all get pre approval from your bank or lender know what interest rates and contract length of finance contract do to your car payment. Total pay back might be 25,000+ 6 years from now if that does not scare you I think a new car for the Holidays is a great thing. Barter for the best price. Never throw in a huge down payment. Save that money to pay down principle make sure there is no early payment penalty. Good Luck

A: i dont think a job like that would be considered step by step,
even for the most exp. mechanics,

i would save the trouble of buying parts and other special equipment as well as do it yourself labor/time.
and simply send it a auto shop for faster, no worry qualified job
