Q: Can a dealer take off more than $1000 on a Chevrolet Equinox?
At the dealer – and he offered to take off $1000 off the MSRP of the new SUV. He said they don’t make much off the Equinox. We then were considering a higher model (that is $4500 more than the base) and he didn’t change the discount. We getting ripped off or is the dealer right?

A: Don’t listen to the salesman. SUVs have the largest profit margin of any vehicle type.
$1000 off the top is nothing. They offer that before you even begin to get down to serious negotiating.
Here’s what you do. Go to any of the online price guides and look up the INVOICE price of the car, equipped with all the options the way you want to buy it. Then subtract all of the available cash back offers, rebates or cash incentives that are available for the vehicle. That is the price you offer the dealer. If they want to sell the truck they will have to accept your offer or justify why they are asking for you to pay more. Let the negotiating begin. In the end you should be able to buy the car for about 20% under retail sticker price.

A: I got one .. 4 cyl FWD… absolutely love it … handles extremely well on the highway with very decent gas mileage. Very good value for the money… Lots and Lots of interior room … VERY spacious seating in the real for Adults

I’m looking at the Chevrolet Equinox and have been hoping that they would create a hybrid. On some websites it says that Chevrolet was going to release one in 2006, but that didn’t happen. No word on the Equinox.
(The Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra, Saturn Vue Greenline, and Chevy Malibu hybrids are already out, and I think I’ve heard that the upcoming Saturn Aura/Aurora will have a hybrid version available as well.)

A: The LT is a more luxurious version of the LS model Equinox, and the Pontiac Torrent is quite a bit sportier – same basic platform, engine, transmission, etc.

A: They are a little bigger than the blazer and they do get a bit better gas mileage 18 city 24 hwy. They ride good and have a load of options. One downside the blazer has more power so if you tow you need to go the the trailblazer. I think you will like it better than your blazer
